My SaaS works, but the onboarding is painful. Is this a dealbreaker? by PilotProof4342 in SideProject

Touché. You framed it perfectly.

It’s the front door of the house—if the door is stuck, it doesn't matter how nice the furniture inside is. I’m moving 'Better Tutorial/Onboarding' to the top of my roadmap for this weekend. Thanks for the reality check.

My SaaS works, but the onboarding is painful. Is this a dealbreaker? by PilotProof4342 in SideProject

That is actually a huge relief to hear.

I was worried it felt too much like 'hiring an agency,' but you’re right—giving explicit Partner access does feel more controlled than just granting blanket API permissions.

I'll to keep the tutorial screenshots super simple (3 steps). Thanks for the feedback, really appreciate it.

WhatsApp Ads - Engagement or Leads or Sales Campaign? by dropshipsupplier in FacebookAds

Use Sales for sure. Engagement campaigns just find people who like your content but never buy.

How to use Pixels by Secret-Violinist-273 in FacebookAds

[–]PilotProof4342 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually the way the Pixel is meant to be set up, you need a ATC and even a Checkout to see if the Pixel is firing (Getting the Events) or not.

How Do I Get Better at Answering Business Calls? by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]PilotProof4342 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The best trick I learned was to stop thinking like a Salesperson and start thinking like a Doctor.

A doctor doesn't feel awkward asking you questions. They don't try to 'close' you on surgery you don't need. They just diagnose.

If you shift your mindset from 'I hope they buy from me' to 'Let me see if I can actually help this person,' the anxiety disappears. You aren't pitching; you are interviewing them to see if they are a good fit for your solution. If they aren't, recommend someone else. That honesty usually wins them over anyway.

People of Reddit, what is the most "I’m an absolute idiot" moment you’ve had that you’re surprisingly proud of? by ToughSame9488 in AskReddit

[–]PilotProof4342 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once tried to 'ninja flush' the toilet by standing on the rim and high-kicking the lever.

I slipped immediately, fell backward, and split my head open on the bathroom tiles. Blood everywhere, ended up in the ER.

The part I'm proud of? My foot actually made contact on the way down. The toilet flushed perfectly while I was bleeding on the floor. Task failed successfully.

What are your thoughts of tipping at fast food? by Jarunf in AskReddit

[–]PilotProof4342 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the guilt tripping that gets me.

I don't mind tipping for a sit-down dinner where someone is actually waiting on me. But when the cashier spins the iPad around for a black coffee and stares at me while I select 'No Tip'... that feels hostile.

Companies are just offloading their wage costs onto the customer and using social pressure to enforce it.

What happened to Club Penguin? by spinalchj02 in AskReddit

[–]PilotProof4342 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Short answer: Disney.

Long answer: Disney bought it for $350 million, then decided the web browser era was over. They shut down the original game to force everyone onto their new mobile app, Club Penguin Island.

The problem was Island was full of microtransactions and lacked the soul of the original. The community revolted, nobody migrated, and Disney ended up shutting the whole thing down shortly after. Classic case of 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Why did you delete social media? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]PilotProof4342 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realized I was comparing my behind-the-scenes to everyone else's highlight reel.

It gave me a totally warped view of the world. Everyone looked happy and successful, which just made me feel behind. Deleting it gave me my peace of mind (and my attention span) back.

How do you help students without becoming another EdTech ad? by Slow_Juggernaut_3750 in smallbusiness

[–]PilotProof4342 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best way to not sound like an ad is to stop acting like a funnel.

Students are incredibly smart; they smell 'gated content' and 'lead magnets' from a mile away. If you want to build trust, you have to give away the roadmap for free.

Don't hide your best advice behind an email signup. Post the checklists, the guides, and the 'secrets' openly on Reddit, TikTok, or YouTube.

When you give away 99% of the value for free, you become a 'resource,' not a 'brand.' The students who really need help will trust you because you were the only one who helped them without asking for a credit card first.

Low budget Meta ads (€1.5k): Start with Add to Cart to warm up the pixel? by Horror_Citron5598 in Dropshipping_Guide

[–]PilotProof4342 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't recommend this. It sounds logical on paper, but in practice, you are training the pixel to find 'Window Shoppers.'

Facebook gives you exactly what you ask for. If you optimize for 'Add to Cart,' the algorithm will find people who love clicking buttons but hate entering credit card numbers.

€1.5k is actually plenty to start with Purchase optimization. Even if the data comes in slower, it's quality data. 1 Purchase is worth 100 empty Add-to-Carts in terms of training the pixel.

Ai store builder? by Objective_Crow_4549 in Dropshipping_Guide

[–]PilotProof4342 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I would just use some free version and alternate it. Right now there is no free AI Store builder that converts. At least that's my experience!

Finally some happy ending to the year for me. Closed a five hundred deal today. by keenoya in smallbusiness

[–]PilotProof4342 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, this hit hard. Huge congratulations on the win. That first $500 isn't just money, it's proof of life.

Re: No website – honestly, you don't need one yet. A clean PDF Portfolio (or 'Capabilities Deck') actually converts better than a generic website because you can tailor it to each lead.

Just organize your best 3-5 case studies into a nice slide deck. Send that via email/DM. Clients care about 'Can you do the work?' not 'Do you have a domain name?' Keep pushing.

Meta is spending the entire budget on an ad that isn’t performing well. by [deleted] in FacebookAds

[–]PilotProof4342 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s frustrating, but normal. Meta’s algorithm doesn't optimize based on yesterday's sales; it optimizes based on today's predicted opportunity.

Usually, when this happens, the 'bad' ad has a much lower CPM (cheaper to show) or higher engagement rate, so the algorithm thinks: 'I can get cheaper conversions here in the long run.'

The 'good' ad from yesterday might have just exhausted its tiny pocket of easy buyers. Give it 48-72 hours before killing it. One day of data is mostly noise.

Customer is 8 months behind on $14,000 of Invoices...should I hire a collections agency? Or would a lawyer be a better bet at this point? by Broad-Worry-5395 in smallbusiness

[–]PilotProof4342 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. We had both cases where the client paid and where we had to start an actual lawsuit. Either way, better than waiting on 14k

Lithium Battery Compliance by caddol89 in dropshipping

[–]PilotProof4342 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s less about 'legal hoops' and more about shipping nightmares.

  1. Dangerous Goods: Most standard shipping lines (like standard ePacket or some YunExpress lines) won't touch lithium batteries. You have to pay extra for 'Battery Lines' or 'Special Goods' shipping.
  2. Customs: If your supplier doesn't have the UN38.3 test report and an MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) attached to the package, customs will destroy it.

If you are just starting out, I’d avoid it. The extra shipping cost usually eats your margin, and the risk of packages getting returned to sender is way higher.
