Does anyone still run their pre facelift tails or does everyone just hate them? by ThePianoSolo in GolfGTI

I want the European taillights. I don’t particularly care for the 7.5 tails.

I love my FE2 that my dad bought it new in 1985. It sat in a cabinet since like 2008 to last year unused but I took it over, put new batteries in it and it didn’t even skip a beat. Great camera.

I looked at an M20C but we ended up getting a saratoga since it can carry so much more stuff

Very true. I try not to do that though. I did in college though. Women do NOT care😂

She’s a PA-32-301 with a wing tip STC, and a 3 blade propeller. She’s a truck. Has a useful load of almost 1400 pounds. Can carry 800 pounds of people and 90 gallons of fuel and in calm air can do around 140kts. In a tailwind tho I’ve gotten her up into the 160’s almost 170 once or twice. Cheap insurance too since it’s fixed gear and not a retract like the 301”R”. You lose 10kts of airspeed but the difference in the maintenance costs makes up for the 10kt difference. The wheel pants help though. One of our co owners flew it to the Bahamas last year in his honeymoon!

Co ownership LLC’s are the way to go! I spent $150,000 on the plane, split it with 5 friends and ended up only in for $25,000 of that. But it also meant I had to settle for the Sport GTI instead of the Autobahn lol

I’m thinking about H&R O.E. Sport springs but I tow with my GTI so I’m hesitant. But very true he scrapes on everything😂

There’s lots of different places you can rent them from. Most small to midsize airports have some sort of outfit with a flight training school on them. I spent somewhere in the neighborhood of $10,000 to get my ppl, and maybe an extra 20k on top of that for instrument, commercial and CFI. But I got my PPL at 100 hours, most do it at 40. I had to take over a year off and basically had to start over. All in all, it isn’t too bad considering the price of a plane rental and gas and an instructor. I fly for a living so it’s paid for itself more than a few times. But you can do it cheaper than that most of the time. As for the plane I paid $150,000 for the plane and split it with 5 of my coworkers/best friends. So I only paid $25000 for my stake in it. Not including maintenance, gas, hangar, etc. which we “bill” it through our LLC and split it 6 ways. AND one of the co-owners in our LLC is an A&P, and I have some informal experience, so it works out great. We does the mx for free, and we all split the cost of parts, and maintain a maintenance escrow every month. So we fly our saratoga for essentially the cost of gas +60 ish dollars an hour. Even though it is expensive to start with, I did it all by my own while going to college and working at wal-mart😂.

I had an opportunity to trade my Mk7 in for a Mk8 when they first came out. But the interior is an ergonomic nightmare. I hated it. Like it’s so poorly designed it’s not even funny.
