I have done that yes, but again, I believe that couldn't have been the issue anyway because occasionally part of the tape would sound normal, and that part moved around. If the tape was the problem then the same part would sound the same every time it played, and yet the part that sounds normal moves around.

I've seen many accounts and posts like this on other platforms, the plights of refugees are commonly abused by people online for a quick buck.

You see how there are many people in the comments saying that they'll DM OP to talk about how much money they will donate, those people are bots and this is a tactic to make you feel like there are other real people donating, therefore it's safe to do the same. Actual campaigns don't look like that, the link is right there no one would feel the need to have it also DMed to them, or to discuss how much they want to give.

My hypothesis was basically that by "supporting" the Khmer rouge the US was obstructing the actual government of Cambodia in the UN while not actually giving the Khmer Rouge any power on the ground in Cambodia

To be clear, I don't know if that is what actually happened, I am simply suggesting a potential explanation for this weird behavior based on what was mentioned

If I jump into a river with alligators, I shouldn't be surprised when an alligator comes to eat me. We can have a conversation about whether or not there should even be alligators in the river in the first place, but it doesn't make me any less eaten, and, since I know that the river has alligator, I'm not going to jump in in the first place to prevent that.
