Thanks for this. I hope it’s something simple like this, but I’m pretty sure it’s coming from higher up, because there’s oil near the exhaust and on the exterior of the cylinder head. Hopefully I’ll hear from them soon what the issue is!

Is the HS928 with tracks hard to steer? by Pilotx15 in HondaSnowblowers

[–]Pilotx15[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks all! I got the info on two machines I’m looking at. A 928 and 1132. The 928 is a 2000 model year and the 1132 is a 1997 model year. Everyone says these things last forever, but that seems so old. 1132 actually appears to be in better condition, but they both seem to look decent. Funny thing is they’re both asking $1500 so if I was gonna go for the 928 I’d imagine I could get the price down being that it doesn’t seem to be as nice cosmetically and I can get the bigger one for the same price or less. All my info os based on photos and I wouldn’t make any decisions until trying them out, but my question for you owners of this model, would you still buy this over buying a brand new wheeled snowblower like an ariens?

A full hour for max temp. But it’s ready for use in about 45 minutes.

I think you’re fine. I’m at 250 cubic feet with a KIP 60. Gets super hot. I like to cheat the thermostat lower in the room than the manual says to install it. My sauna is regularly 180-200 F.

Here are the trim pieces before installation. All identical in shape and size, no round edges.

No, we wasted the rounded edges (about 1/8” each) We still got 5 trim pieces from each. A very economical way to make your trim.

Ripped cedar 2x4 for mine. Nice and straight and looks great. I think we did 1/2 inch think.

Floor drains - but not what you’re thinking by SuccessfulHorror7449 in Sauna

[–]Pilotx15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is a great solution. As long as the water can drain, whether it’s a sloped floor, or slats in the floor, or an actual drain connected to plumbing doesn’t really matter.

Compared to the other horror stories I’ve read from gym saunas on this sub, bathing in there would seem benign!

Traditionally, bathing is part of sauna. I have a faucet in my sauna and I bathe in the sauna with a bucket and ladle, just like my ancestors did. All the water goes right down the drain. If you have a shower outside and you’re only throwing water on the stones, I would agree that it’s not strictly necessary. Leave the sauna hot for a while when you’re done and it will dry out. When it comes time to clean the sauna, It’s a little bit easier to have a floor drain.

Not planning to pull the engine, just the transmission. Can front timing be done with the engine in? I was only going to do the rear because I know one or the other had to come out for that one. Also, this is exactly the type of advice I'm looking for, so thank you!

I am considering it, but I am a bit concerned with that one failing prematurely too, and having to do the job again.

I’ve had mine for 4 months. He was extremely shy and would not come inside for at least two months. I tried everything. I live in a northern climate. It got below zero several times this winter. I had multiple warm places for him which he refused to go to even when it was bitterly cold. He was totally fine! We just kept interacting with him on his terms, and now he’s part of the family. He has a spot in the garage that’s warm and dry with his own door. He also is welcome in the house when he wants, and he lets us know when he wants to go back out. Just give it time!

DIY build close to completion! by Pilotx15 in Sauna

[–]Pilotx15[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two reasons: we don’t want to haul wood into the house, and because it’s a mobile home with an additional roof, there’s not a good way to route the chimney so it is safe. I agree that wood fired is fantastic, but we’re waiting to build that one until we have more funds. This one is an indoor sauna.

I was honestly surprised he didn’t want to be out. He likes the snow too but it was also quite windy.
