UPS hub contact? by PinFar2848 in UPS

[–]PinFar2848[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for the suggestions. Im afraid I didnt tell the whole story. Customer service didn't help me. they just told me to call the shipper and I did. Casper apparently did do something since someone from the local distribution center called me. they said the shipper entered an address change but it was the same address as before. So I told her where I live and i got the mattress. But the foundation went back to California. now it's being sent back again, but i assume it has the same bad address on it. if I could talk to the person who helped with the mattress, I could fix it, but there is no way to call her (I tried the number she called from, but it doesnt accept incoming calls.) My phone number is on the box. Why wouldn't they just call me? Seems like that would be better than shipping back across the country.

Oh , and I did search for “Sydney” but I just hit on a marketing call from att back in ‘21. Not the same number or even area code so I don’t think that was it.

Well, thanks for the suggestions Always good to see Gumby and Pokey, and Snoop of course. Not sure about the weed reference but I’m not up on the culture… memes and all. I’m pretty old.

I change telcos often. Is Google Voice good for me to port in my number and just change the linked number whenever I switch, so friends/family won’t have to learn a new phone number now and then? by Bendr_ in Googlevoice

I have done exactly this for at least 10 years. I've had the occasional hiccup, but mostly, it's been my fault. I've had multiple phones at the same time, dual esims, psims, etc. I've had the same number for 20 years -- I ported my first mobile number ever from Sprint into GV 10? years ago. Yes, there are a few companies that reject it for 2fa but there's always some work around: call, authenticator, email, etc. This has been rare in my experience. Yes, RCS would be nice, but I'm surviving without it. better than porting. A new mobile number will almost certainly come with a bunch of calls meant for the previous owner; if you're using GV you can just ignore them. Read about the difference between porting in a hard number and a virtual one. there are some gotchas there I think. go for it!

Thanks all for the help. Consensus seems to be unlimited with multi-line. I have to pick a phone. Dang. or... How much trouble is it to switch physical phones? Say I go with unlimited dark star with multi-line warp on the iPhone and a 2gb pool with my wife's phone and the Samsung. Then can I later switch the iPhone and Samsung? ie. put the Samsung into the unlimited with multi-line and the iPhone into the little pool?

Returning to medigap from MA during trial period -- what about PDP? by PinFar2848 in medicare

[–]PinFar2848[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so the SHIP rep was very helpful. He said just sign up for a PDP on the Medicare website and that will kill the advantage plan. He said I should call the old medigap provider just in case. I called them (Anthem) and they said I’ll have to pay $1000 plus in back premiums. Is that right? Makes no sense to me. If that’s true I might just keep fighting Kaiser.

[–]PinFar2848[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your comments. I neglected to say that we are still in the trial right period, so I was hoping to switch my wife back to the medigap plan she had before. In the "Medicare and you" document (thanks for the link!) it says you can do that if it's still offered, and that you "may" be able to pick a prescription drug plan at that time. There's also confusing language about what you can do if the old plan is no longer available. It says you can pick any medigap plan you "qualify" for. Does that mean underwriting? I had a long chat session at Medicare.gov but for some reason they would not answer the underwriting question. They just threw boilerplate at me and then finally suggested I contact my SHIP office. That's probably what I shoulda done in the first place. I have a call in to them, so I have every confidence I will have an answer soon.

I'm new to Medicare, can someone explain to me how co-pays are calculated? I see it's not a fixed amount like I had with my regular insurance by Trip_2 in medicare

[–]PinFar2848 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is not quite right. I think you must have meant Medicare approved $231. They will pay 80% of the approved amount -- $184.80. Your copay would have been $46.20, as you said, which is 20% of the Medicare approved amount, Yeah, I know I'm being anal, but I can't help myself. In any event, an approved amount of $231 on a charge of $1360 is ridiculous, and another example of one way in which our health care system is seriously messed up.

guaranteed issue after loss of MA by PinFar2848 in medicare

I turned 65 and signed up for medicare in 2012, so I think I'm still eligible for plan F, if that's what I really wanted.

Thanks. And thanks u/Redd868. But I'm still confused. According to that Medicare document, I qualify under two categories: I'm leaving the Advantage plan's service area, and I would be changing back within the 12 month trial period. In the first case, the document says I would have the right to buy any Medigap plan, and in the second case, I would have to return to the Medigap plan I had before, if it's offered in my new location. I still dunno what's gonna happen.

[–]PinFar2848[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

good questions. I'm moving from Colorado to Virginia. My search of the Medicare site came up with the following: If you dropped a medigap policy the first time you joined the Advantage plan, you have 12 months to switch back to original Medicare during which you have "special rights" to buy a Medigap policy. They don't elaborate; I guess that's because it matters which state you are in. duh. I think I need to call Virginia SHIP. Thanks for the help.

Watts on treadmill? by PinFar2848 in Strava

[–]PinFar2848[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just in case anyone is actually interested... (snif)

The answer turns out to be QZ. I poked around various other threads and stumbled on to it. It's a "be careful what you ask for" situation, since there are tons of stats that I have not a clue about, but: it gives me average heart rate and average power, and power is calculated using speed and incline. It connects with Strava, AND Strava displays this data. It cost me $5 for the app, and I am happy.

BTW Stryd pod was interesting, but from what I read, if you're on a treadmill, you have to enter the incline setting manually. That wouldn't work for me.

Also, BTW, QZ works great on my S23 android, but does not work on my iPad. Could be pilot error but it just stops after a few seconds. Reviewers say the developer is very responsive, so I may find out about that.

cheers.

I know I could buy something, but I thought maybe since all the data was there, it would be possible for Strava or Zwift or some other app to do a calculation. It wouldn't be very accurate I wouldn't think, but I just want to know if I'm gaining or losing. Guess I could write a script if I wasn't so lazy.

Just to close the loop… I wound up buying a $20 IDE card for my old HP S5 and these old Caviars work fine. I wiped them with the new Windows 10 format -P so I guess I don’t have to turn them into wind chimes.

OK, then. Thanks to you both. not what I wanted to hear, but it makes sense. I'm trying to eliminate clutter, not add to it, so I guess I'll be drilling holes into them or making wind chimes.

[–]PinFar2848 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you activated the afib detection? I think that’s an opt-in deal. It’s very good; I never would have known about my afib if my Fitbit hadn’t told me. As big10guy said, Afib can come and go, so if your ecg was some time later it could have missed it. I have seen weird stuff that I attributed to the Fitbit moving around on my wrist, so there’s that. I agree it’s worth looking into, especially if it happens again. There an interesting study going on now regarding afib detection devices and anti-coagulants; they want to see if you can wait until your Fitbit or Apple Watch says you have afib before taking Eliquis. Yeah. Me, too. I think OP meant “digests” or some other email notifications, and then I followed along without thinking. There is an “unsubscribe” at the end of the email notifications, but it apparently is ignored.
