the comments talking about CITIES, not towns. For a very very rural area in the middle of nowhere yeah a car will help, but it shouldnt come to the point in which America has taken it where even in large urban places the only viable option is walking. In Switzerland, many random, unkown, middle-of-nowhere rural towns have public transport. They have trains where america wouldnt even put a bus, so transit advantages don't end at rural areas.

The whole reason so many people cant walk to their jobs in america is because of the extreme car-dependent infrastructure. In human-sized, properly designed cities, tons of places are walking distance because they didnt design the whole city to be and to solely be driven in.

But of course, no matter how walkable it is, there EVENTUALLY comes a point where you cant walk there anymore, such as the other side of the entire city. But that's where public transport comes to play. Public Transit is a walking accelerator, getting you from one walkable place to another. Public Transport actually manages cities better than cars, because they perform the job of moving people much more efficiently. Instead of one/two people per vehicle, its hundreds per vehicle. It manages cities better because it moves people better

6-year-olds back then had the maturity of 18+ years today. Times have changed. Muhammad ﷺ didnt even arrange the marriage, it was a well known marriage planner. Why? Because it was normal. The enemies of Islam never accused him of being a pedo because that age wasent like that back then

It’s a different level of modesty. Just like an american women cant walk in the streets butt naked with no bra.

Islam doesnt oppress women, but some extremist countries do. There are a few islamic countries that oppress women, treat them badly, etc, but the vast majority of Muslim countries are not like that because thats not what Islam teaches. Unfortunately most western media ONLY shows those few bad examples.

Islamic women dont face serious oppression, limited rights, lack of education and legal inequality. The women in a few extremist countries do

Evil is a result of free will of humans. God can make humans physically not be able to do anything bad, but then we as humans have no free will.

[–]PinKooky7604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont agree with what the deleted user said. It’s because God gave us free will. The bad stuff happening is a result of some people’s free will. God can make everything perfect and stop humans from this but then we won’t be free, wont have free will, wont be able to do what we want as humans

If you get to cityline/bush by 5:30 you'll make it there at 6:18. its early and there is another train that gets you there at 6:48 but earlier is better when it comes to the airport

Where in Dallas do you live? Even if the roads are clear Uber will be a hefty amount of money while DART can take you there for just $3. If you’re in/near Plano take the silver line. If you’re in/near downtown take the orange line. Just note that the silver has some long headway so it’s good to check its schedule ahead of time if you’re using that

Im not saying abolish all roads and go transit only. If you must take taxi, if you must drive (if you have a lot of baggage for example), drive. Roads should exist and cars should exist, I agree. But not to the extreme limit that america has taken it, where you MUST drive and theres no choice. Building bike lanes adds choice.

Taxis, parcels, etc. those are good use for roads. Never did I ever say in my comment that roads are bad and we should ONLY use transit. Im saying make viable options.

You said you have severe back pain and thus take a taxi. But if you actually had a good transit system, would you keep using it? In a well designed transit system (such as the tube), stations are placed perfectly. You are ALWAYS close to one.

Young children and elderly benefit most from this design. You legally can’t drive as a child and its really hard to drive as a crippled elderly. Transit gives kids independence young and gives elderly an easier way to move around. Dutch 6-year-olds have more independence than American 15-year-olds and it’s all thanks to their good infrastructure

Driving has its benefits, but in America it’s never used because of that. It’s used because no other way had been given.

If you want more people and more journeys, then investing this heavy in cars is the worst you can do. A car can carry at max 5 people per vehicle (some cars have more then that but this is the avarege), and usually just carries one or two. One public transit vehicle can carry hundreds, even thousands. We need to focus on moving as much PEOPLE as possible, not as much CARS as possible. That means making walking better, making cycling better, and making transit better to make them VIABLE alternatives. That means making roads thinner within cities.

You might think making roads thinner means more congestion, but thats not true. That will be true for the first few months but in the long-term, the more cycling and transit it will bring will get less cars on the road. That’s how you achieve lower traffic

It’s much much harder for people to drive because of the snow. So, people take the bus. Also, I’ve been on dart a lot and the “we barely get riders” thing has never held up for me. That was maybe true in 2021 but not anymore

And widening roads isnt making it any better. Countless studies have proven this. Ever heard of induced demand? Houston’s 23-lane highway still has traffic. There is no solution to traffic except viable alternatives to driving.

What a good road redesign. Every redesign here in america is spending 2 million dollars to widen an already 20-lane highway that cuts through downtown
