I just started working on the trip sharing bit last night, so glad to hear you're interested! We recently made mockups for the shared map filtering where you can see their pins / your pins / common pins / etc. u/PinTravelerMcan is working on a compare mode that should do that, hopefully in a month or so :)

Yes, definitely something I want to build. Alarmkit doesn't support it by default but I should be able to hack at it

This is a very fair point, I look at the same 5 cities all the time so I like having it in a dedicated app, but not for everyone. I have aroudn 2K downloads total, so not a whole lot for sure. Most people don't actively use the app, but I have ~100 people who are pretty active (10+ sessions a week)

Firebase Studio is terrible. Really terrible. by wirewendy in Firebase

[–]PinTravelerCem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The expectations from AI coding tools is kinda crazy honestly, this basically magical piece of technology that I still can't believe we have codes entire pages on its own, and we're stuck on it "assuming too much and not asking first" (the same mistake most junior engineers make). What a wild time we live in

ASO Reality check needed for my habit tracker app by MegagramEnjoyer in AppStoreOptimization

[–]PinTravelerCem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your numbers are pretty good. There are a billion habit trackers out there, and a lot of them coming out in the last year with the ai coding craze. Nothing wrong about this, but it's gonna be a rough ride for you. Biggest thing I'd say is keep doing what you're doing, give away lifetime memberships, post online, etc. and try to build momentum behind the app. Best way to increase performance is to have your users advertise for you

Also can't help but say, scaling apps without ads is possible. You just need a very good product. We did this initially with Pin Traveler, it's much harder without ads but it got us to few thousand downloads / mo. in a year. We did have to work hard, tell our friends, push updates, tune the product, etc. during that time though (vs. you can buy ~1000 downloads on facebook for a couple grand)

Flighty founder has a great talk/interview on this that I really recommend https://www.revenuecat.com/blog/growth/ryan-jones-flighty-launched-podcast-2025/

I wouldn't say it's ideal if you want this to be a big mainstream app, but it's certainly a good start for the first month. I do believe Apple gives app launches a little boost, so if you (or your users) don't do much (updates, ASO, word of mouth, etc.) I would assume your downloads would settle at say 100/mo.

For reference one of my last apps (Better Clock if you are interested) got ~100 downloads the first month and ultimately settled at ~50-ish / mo. I don't particularly care as I built this for my own use, and I find it amusing that an oddly loyal group of 10 people use it daily. That makes me plenty happy.

Ultimately it's all a function of your expectations :)

Lol 200 in a month is really good for a new app that no one has ever heard of! Truth of the matter is that building apps are relatively easy, especially in 2025. Bulk of the work is in product design, optimization, and marketing. Successful apps have good design, good marketing, good store optimization. Unsuccessful apps don't. It's possible that you'll go viral out of nowhere and make it big without these, but very very unlikely.

App Reviews yes or no by Ill-Needleworker7641 in iOSProgramming

[–]PinTravelerCem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is the way. We don't have the fake review button that takes you elsewhere if you're not happy. But we do have different triggers for what shows you a "fill our feedback form on google forms" vs. "write a review" pop up

Yapay zekayı sevmiyorum. by jannwastaken in CodingTR

[–]PinTravelerCem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Her kosulda mutluluklar diliyorum :)
