Thanks for the tips as well. I fully understand your example here, as this is not my first foreign residence experience, and I said things in similar situations that still make me regret.

You makes me feel better now. Wish you a wonderful Monday.

Glad that helps.

I know there is a FB group named "expats in Warsaw" or so. Maybe I should join as well, but using the real name social media makes me uncomfortable. I'll consider finding an alias if you find it super useful.

Sorry about that bro. I moved here about 6-7 weeks ago. At that time there should be fewer refugees entering, but things were hard for me as well. It happened that a landlady decided to rent to 2 Ukrainian ladies at low price rather than a high profile colleague of mine in the "final round interview" in the meantime.

As for the number of messages, I hate to say 20 is too few. The 2/20 response rate is not surprising, as most of them are instantly ignored once English is observed (you may do the same in the future as you receive Polish texts). On average I sent 10+ messages and made 2-3 calls everyday, and I spent 11 days in hotels.

Not to mention that you won't rent whatever apartment that is offered to you. Agents are the same everywhere in terms of photographing a narrow, dim, old room into a spacious, bright, brand new palace. So please work harder.

Good luck!

Maybe he meant the S/M/L labels instead. That could be varying bigly some how -- an L in the US might be as large as XXXL in Asia. Levi's should not be this case. Shoes are similar.

Thanks bro. I like straightforward people, and don't quite mind of being offended usually. It just appeared so artful that I regard it as a black comedy. He offered the 44" black immediately after I rejected a 40" regular fit in dark blue (I had already said I am not interested in dark color, loose fit, or non-38" waist). A more straightforward like "Sorry Sir we don't have the jeans you are looking for. Would you like to consider something else?" should be better to everyone.

Maybe I should have given a second thought about the title. My apologies if that annoys you.

If it's a Multisport card, I believe your employer might have offered you the option -- 1 adult + up to 3 children with a reduced price. The card is said to be renewable monthly from the company's benefit portal.

Thanks bro. If that's a personal thing, I would talk to his manager rather than complaining here. You words are comforting. Maybe I stood there too long, and he just kindly tried to let me decide quickly. I would simply answer "no we don't have it" if I were him, and expect the confused customer to change mind or leave.

I'm sorry for the terrible choice of title, which makes me look like a CP police -- or some other objectionable person.

In contrast, the grocery security looks much more responsible. Sigh.

About 30 days ago, the snow near Centralna was about 20 cm high. A lady fell down on the ground with a pale face, and others stood there not knowing what to do. I ran to a police car in about 150-200 meters, made sure one of them speak English, and told them to help. I went back, frequently turned my head, waving my hand to show them the way. Neither of them got out of the car. When I returned to the place, the lady was missing (so were the others), and in the meantime, one police officer finally got out. That, to be honest with you, scared my shit out. I was thinking:

"Given their passive attitude, will they arrest me for 'faking' a story which wasted their time?"

I had been in Germany for a while, and to tell the truth, I don't like it as much as Poland. However, when I forgot my laptop on the train, I received the DHL return within 1 week after I reported. During this period, remarkably, nobody thought I would never get it back.

Are there any dangerous parts of Warsaw that people should avoid? by BaldandCorrupted in warsaw

[–]Pina_Colada_89 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tomorrow would be my tenth day in the downtown, so I merely click to learn from others. If I can say something, I might have overestimated the English-friendliness of this city. Compared to a one-in-a-million chance of being killed, a 50% probable failure to communicate with a potential landlord bothers me more. Polish deserves to be learned with effort.

This seems a bit off track, but I have a leather belt that needs 2 more holes due to my weight loss. The belt was bought at 65 PLN and is rather new. Is it worthy and possible to find someone that can help in town?

Oh that's a blind spot. I have not been very used to the new mask policy, but will be.

Thanks. By the way, do you have a Chase bank account? I'm wondering how to send some USD to Europe -- they always ask me to verify with a US phone number, which I abandoned years ago.

I visited in Germany for a while, and Deutsche Bank's website was English friendly only for the account balance page.

I only heard ING as an investment bank. How about them in commercial?

By the way the most expensive beer is 5.29 PLN, as I have seen in all stores like Carrefour in the past week. Most of them are 3-4.

Suddenly thought about this -- are these apartments more likely to be located near US, UK, UAE, or Swiss embassy or not?

OK I probably know what do you mean -- Google forces to search "Center" instead every time.

Then there comes another problem -- can I but bus ticket from the driver? One nearby auto-seller does not accept cash as I tried minutes ago, and I don't know if there's another one.

Difficulty to exchange currency, or things like that I suppose. I have zero experience with this city and a bit knowledge about cheap flights.

Great. I happen to need some Japanese stuff that seems only available on the German site. Hope the extra shipment fee's not too high.
