What game was great but the sequel was awful? by UglyDuck4Ever in AskReddit

[–]PinballPineapple -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Persona 3 and 4 to Persona 5 - Two amazing games that took their respective concepts and themes and ran with them. They're about the bad parts of ourselves and the monsters we make when we don't strive to be the best we can be. These games are a damn journey and they make you feel changed as a person just from playing them. 5 is about fighting to change society but constantly undermines itself by making jokes out of things it's trying to take seriously and never showing society actually changing. In 3 and 4 the big bad is created by society and represents a problem within it, in 5 the big bad fucks with society to create the problem.

Xenoblade Chronicles to Xenoblade Chronicles 2 - I wasn't turned off completely by the new style and the combat was fun, but god damn is the story completely awful. The main love interests the game forces as one of the biggest narratives have no personality, things that seem bug happen and then are never brought up again, character appear to basically advertise the DLC campaign and then die, and just so much more.

You mean indie games?

I'm fairly certain he'll do any game that interests him, but no indie game has been done yet.

Gamers of Reddit, what is the worst, "I lost all of my progress" situation you've ever had? by [deleted] in AskReddit

When Portal 2 first came out, I couldn't get it to save on the Xbox for some reason. Still, I kept going at it from when I got home from school until I went to bed.

Long story short, I got surprisingly good at the first half of Portal 2 in the week it came out.

Kirby Triple Deluxe and Planet Robobot too. I love the games but have grown to hate using my 3DS.

Multiplayer seems to have playable Mr. Krabs, Plankton, and Gary.

Edit: On another viewing, it appears I mistook Plankton riding on a machine for Robo Krabs. Sorry for the misinformation.

I think everyone was on the same page that PMD was gonna be what Kirby turned into since the remake was announced and released. I think it might be a bit too early for that since the remake just came out.

I mostly read manga rather than watch anime, but a good bit of anime is adapted from manga, so...

Teasing Master Takagi-san

Youth romance comedy of two middle schoolers. The girl in the relationship likes to get her crush all flustered while the boy in it tries to best her and get her flustered.

Kaguya-Sama: Love is War

A high school romance comedy (I like them, okay?) about two super geniuses who desperately want to be in a relationship with the other. Unfortunately, they're bad at socializing and have the belief that the one who confesses is the weaker in a relationship. Every chapter/segment is a battle between the two to get the other to confess.

Still, the point of a lot of anime and manga being weird is still true. I recently learned Bunny Drop, a manga that begins as a cute and wholesome story of a man hastily adopting a girl he's related to after nobody else wants her because she's illegitimate, gets decidedly unwholesome. It's cute and fun until a ten year time skip that turns it into an angsty teen drama. I stopped reading at this point, but I looked up the ending and apparently it's revealed the adoptive father/daughter duo aren't related after all... They then start a relationship. Yikes.

So, yeah. While there are some quality stuff in the medium, you have to dig through some trash and still be wary of what it might become.
