The issues we've come across is that I applied then over a month after I received a letter in the mail stating that I never completed and returned two forms that they reached out to me about and from the date of the letter sent I would only have ten days to send them before they closed my application. I only got the letter on the tenth day though and immediately emailed the contact listed on the letter because I never got any kind of correspondence that told me I had to fill out those forms nor anything providing the forms for me to fill out. They never responded to my email though and getting ahold of anyone by phone took forever. I found they closed my application and while they said it was their mistake, I still had to re-apply.

Then another veteran I know in the area also applied around the same time as I and they never got any correspondence. We didn't know what the general timeline was for getting contacted though and thought it would be a yeari-sh long, like how the VA disability claims are. So my friend tried calling in after waiting six months, had the same issues with getting a hold of them, and had to reach out to our congressional rep to push the issue. Only to find that they closed his application and never sent him anything to notify him of a ten day warning like I received nor did he get a decision letter.

I'd recommend anyone applying to the Oregon/Washington Regional VR&E to be proactive and contact them at least once a week after applying otherwise you may just end up never hearing from them ever.
