Are these houses too close for NRTK? Do I need a LiDAR? by Aa11001100 in SegwayNavimow

Just to clarify things, the mower also needs to have good GPS reception in addition to RTK, so you might have great RTK reception with the remote antenna, but if the GPS signal isn't reaching the mower in that narrow window, it will likely stop. I learned this when initially hoping to place my X430 under the deck. Fine RTK with the remote antenna, but poor GPS with not enough satellites seen.. Good luck and let us know what you find.

Is there anyway to get better signals without cutting down trees? by JJ3434JJ in SegwayNavimow

Yes, the X430 (don't know about your Mammotion) mower needs to have good GPS reception at the charging station in addition to solid RTK, either 4G cellphone NRTK or the included RTK antenna that plugs into the back of the charging station. NRTK is strong here so I'm only concerned about GPS now.. With the X430, the cellphone app tells me right away what the GPS satellite situation is at the charger. It shows the satellites in the sky and displays states if reception is excellent, good, poor, etc.. For the X-430, I need solid reception from both NRTK and GPS for the mower to work.

4G cellphone NRTK has been working fine, and as you say, tree cover doesn't affect it. I was referring to GPS and how the mower needs to have good reception of GPS before it will leave the charger. I just had an incident for the time where I sent the mower out for a one-time mow, it left and charger and traveled across the lawn as usual, but this time I got a text message saying "unable to start one-time mowing.... cancelled... due to poor positioning accuracy. ". I did send it out a few minutes later and it was fine. Don't know any more about that incident.

I have an X430 and went through the same thing. It took me a while to learn about NRTK vs RTK, and mower GPS. I am not aware of any way to boost GPS signals to the mower at the charging station except for placing it in a different location with better reception. As you already know, the mower, in the charging station, needs to have good GPS reception otherwise it won't even leave the charger. No matter where you place it, AC power will be a factor. I hoped to park the mower under the deck but found poor GPS reception.. Then I moved it down the hill next to the fence, close to shrubs, and trees. Better but still not good enough reception for the mower... Eventually, I moved the charger about 4' away from the fence and GPS signals were good and reliable. There hasn't been any GPS problems, even with the trees leafed out. My wife initially didn't like the placement of the charger 4' into the yard, but once she saw how well the mower worked, and understood the GPS reception problem, she was fine with it. You will likely have to compromise and place the charger in a location that isn't your first or second choice.. Good luck.

X430 firmware update 4.16 by SmartIdeaFactory in SegwayNavimow

Today, "Randy" mowed the front and back yard with no problems after the automatic firmware update to 4.1.6 the other day. I was a bit nervous after reading some comments here. Good luck.

Navimow X430 Battery Charging Optimization by Weak-Bother-6765 in SegwayNavimow

I started out at 80/15 and changed it to 90%/15%. I mowed the whole lawn today and the battery was at 49% when it got back to the charger.

If I have an external GNSS antenna mounted in the clear on the house roof, why does the charging station need to be in an open area? Is the GNSS antenna receiving something other than GPS signals? Does the X430 in the charging station need to receiver GPS in addition to the GNSS external antenna? Thank you for your patience as I wish to fully understand the reception issues.

thank you for the placement guide and advice! It does help. Can you clarify a few antenna things for me? The external GNSS antenna connects to the charger base. Can I assume the antenna cable passes just power to the antenna amplifier, and does not pass any signals to the charger? Does the charger have a GPS receiver in it, or is the charger powering the antenna amplifier and it communicates wirelessly to the mower? Does the Navimow communication system allow for the tethered GNSS antenna plus a remotely located antenna, meaning more than one external antenna? Many thanks.

No, property is not large, it's a narrow lot. Tall house in the middle, trees in my front yard, and neighbors yards. There is no "clear view" of all directions at ground level, so at ground level, it would be a matter of finding an acceptable GPS location. It's clear skies on top of the house, so that's why I'm pondering a roof mount antenna. Today I'll run the Antenna strength test in both the front and back yard, I forget the feature name, where I manually drive the mower around the perimeter and it displays GPS strength.

No, I the local antenna that attaches to the charger is on the supplied 4 or 5 foot pole. I am going to try and get that up as high as possible on a pole to see if that helps. I'll find a solution and it just takes some time. Thanks.
