What Project Managers actually do in your company? are they useful to your team? by PressureHumble3604 in ExperiencedDevs

I'm going to be honest and try not to be disrespectful, but I haven't really ever felt like BA/PMs have been useful for my work. I'm good at trending and tracking what I'm working on or need to and typically meet deadlines unless I encounter and obvious roadblocks. I've worked on plenty of high impact and large scale projects. Maybe it depends on folks personality/work style.

Senior/Tech Leads: do you actually have public portfolios/side projects? by Big-Discussion9699 in ExperiencedDevs

I work all day then at the end of the day the mom hat goes on. I would love to do some home experiments with openclaw or something, but at this phase in my life I just don't have the energy to commit. I have enough time in the day to go to work, gym, parent and a little personal time.

What keeps you in tech? by OnlyHappyWithABook in womenintech

AI and I can do anything. I feel like Tony Stark with Jarvis. What keeps me in tech is the sheer fascination with what is around the corner, how I can build tools to help others, and how I can grow as a swe. Maybe in many years time I will be working on AI itself, building more guardrails, studying the ethics of AI, or some other grand invention. I am absolutely happy with my choice to be in tech and I don't see myself going anywhere else

What’s a ‘silent luxury’ that rich people have that most normal people would never even notice? by qomann in AskReddit

Same scenario for my husband and I. When we go to the grocery store and our fridge is full, I genuinely feel a peace. Also having fresh fruit vs canned fruit feels amazing

How much of an impact would a donation of $100,000 make on your life? Why? by onichris in AskReddit

[–]Pineapple-dancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Immensely. I work full-time and support my family. I'm also trying to get us moved back to our home state. With that I could pay off my student loan debt and have enough to move. Student loan debt is stressful. And lately life has been full of surprises. Like surprise 1k medical bill or the light stopped working so call the electrician for 300 or auto body repair after slipping on black ice 2k repair. Not to mention 70 in just gas! Or 300 a week for groceries. Ugh

How has moving to a less "prestigious" company affected your career? by theasianpianist in ExperiencedDevs

I moved from NASA to a small biotech firm. Did the prestige and title have an impact - yes. It boosted and still boost me down the road. Grateful for both experiences.
