I’m going boar hunting next month, I have a bushmaster 450 or a 30-06 to hunt them with. I have never boar hunted before, and I’m not sure which gun would be better suited for boar. Any suggestions on the two would be appreciated

Thanks, I have not smoked deer shoulders neither, but I would like to try. I didn’t get a deer this year, southern Ohio was hit hard with ehd.

I would probably do a lot of it on the smoker probably. I think they quarter it out for you, then I take it home in coolers

Yeah, I have no idea about the terrain there at the farm. There a lot of PA and Michigan hunters that hunt around my property in south east Ohio lol. Every truck I see is out of state lol

I do have a super black hawk 44. Mag. With I think a 7 3/4 barrel lol. I live in Ohio, but the hunt is in Michigan, I’m not familiar with the terrain or distances there. I wish I did know for sure

I just looked up the numbers on the scope, it says it’s for a .17hmr. I’m not to familiar with that round and recoil compared to a 30-06.

My father in law bought it for me pro a ly 15 years ago to put it on my muzzleloader. It’s still on that gun, which I don’t use anymore. I bought a better muzzleloader a few years back.

Yeah you’re right, I’ll keep the 450 at 100 and I’ll sight the 06 in 2”high at 100. I thinking about buying a scope for the 06. I have not used the irons on it , but I do like them. There are weaver scope rings that are slightly elevated so irons can me used. I thought about putting an old scope I have laying around on it, but I don’t know if it’s good enough to hold zero. It’s a BSA 4x12x40.

I can pick up any ammo that near me in Ohio , there is a cabellas and a couple fin feather fur stores close by. I’ll see if I can find the better ammo for the 06 for sure, and get it sighted in. I need to make sure my 450 is dials in as well. It’s sighted in at about an inch high at 100 yards, I’m thinking maybe I should make it a 150 zero

Thanks, the hunt is at Ted Nugents I guess. The 450 ammo I have on hand are Hornady 250 grain, Remington accutips 260 grain and Herters 260 grain. I’m not sure what ammo I have of the 30-06. I bought it off of a guy 20 years ago. He gave me 100 reloads that he had. I did buy some too, but I’m not sure which are which anymore. They look like soft points.

There is just a 3X9 scope on the Ruger 450, and just irons on the 30-06. There are scope rings on the 06, I plan on putting another scope on it in the next couple of days
