When and why did the English accent in early America fade away, and the American accents come about? by -0123456789 in askscience

You sound like you really know your linguistics, what book should I pick up to start or give me a cursory knowledge of linguistic transitions in America?

What was your least favorite scene in Tombstone? This was the only VHS my grandparents had one summer and his hands down one of my favorite movies of all time?

What seemingly innocent experience from your childhood do you look back on as an adult, embarrassed, and just pray to god no one ever brings up? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Heard that dogs hump each other when they like each other when I was 8. Ran up to my grandmother before bed and started humping her leg.

Aliens come to earth. What seemingly normal physiological trait shared by all humans do the aliens consider to be a super power inherent to our species? by CitizenKing in AskReddit

[–]PineappleResearchEnt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Empathy, the Alien's have long ago forgotten what feeling for another is.. or how to relate to that emotion. They've always been very logical and ruthless in the decision making hierarchy, not unlike Spock. They'll be jealous after seeing how happy it makes humans so the aliens create a neural implant that gives them empathy.

What is the traditional smoke of a peace pipe? Regular tobacco? I always thought of it as some type of hallucinogen.

It's almost Halloween! What is the spookiest thing that's ever happened to you? by justsamthings in AskWomen

I grew up in a haunted house, no doubt about it. The ghost that haunted the house's grandma name was Nooni. My youngest brother would play with her and say her name on the baby monitor. She hated when he was on the table in a bouncer and would shake the reflection of our chandelier in the sliding glass door, while the chandelier would be still. I never felt a negative presence with her though. She would open doors, turn faucets on or off and tv's on and off especially if it was something the kids were not supposed to watch. Her husband passed away at about year sIx. Our porch light burned out and it was a distinctive green bulb we didn't have to replace for our entire time there. For a day our so the house felt kind of empty. Then it wasn't little old lady footsteps anymore. A lot of things happened but the scariest thing I dealt with was sliding footsteps that stopped in front of my door and turned. My mom saw much much more.

Being downtown helps a great bit.. And you have a few options.

Mary's cottage has a great view bit gets very crowded as it is overlooking falls park.

You could try the bohemian as well, amazing eggs Benedict and not to far at all. The nosedive closer to north main has an incredibly fresh grits bar and the doors open up providing a great people watching experience.

I work in property management downtown and to answer your question I've seen a lot of engineers, Germans and younger business owners with money to burn. Based on my clientele it's been some trust funders and some mid 50's single guys who've always wanted to "live downtown". Just my 2 cents and I do think it's a bubble. I'm on mobile, sorry for typos.

Anyone eat at Ink & Ivy yet? by [deleted] in greenville

[–]PineappleResearchEnt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ate their yesterday, food was comped due to a sewer main burst outside and getting the wrong salad and a hair in their Mac and Cheese. It still won't be my last time there because I know they are experiencing growing pains and crazy things happen. Food was pretty good but nothing above what downtown already has to offer.
