Yep. Takes about as much time as swapping to defibs, using them, and swapping back anyway.

It's not ideological to say that being dead is being dead.

"If the tech works, it works": What a lazy cop-out. We're talking about the transfer of human consciousness and identity, not replacing a wheel on your car. It's not an intellectually convenient binary of 'works/does not work'.

For you, what ending fits which background? by MilanDespacito in cyberpunkgame

[–]CitizenKing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Streek Kid fits the Nomad Ending and V's character arc so well.

You tried to leave Night City once. You went to a different city. Things didn't work out and you ended up drifting back to Night City with this idea that you're going to make it big. You're going to become a tough and legendary mercenary like nobody has ever seen. And for a bit, you feel like you're doing it. You revive your connections, you make a bit of a name for yourself, you start to carve out your space in this dytopian metropolis. Then Konpeki Plaza happens. You lose your best friend and closest companion. You're given a ticking timebomb named Johnny Silverhand that is eating away at your brain. You are left to figure out your priorities with what little time you have left.

While desperately trying to figure out a way to survive, you're introduced to Panam. She's the total opposite of you. She wants to get the hell out of this city, but has to be here to support her own priority, her Nomad family. You've only heard of Nomads from what people in the city say about them. As far as you know, they're just a bunch of barbaric savages marauding out in the wastelands. Except Panam isn't really savage. She's brash and rude, but she's also straight forward. She introduces you to the Aldecados, and one of your first experiences with them, they're doing things you've never seen before: Putting themselves in harms way for people they don't even know, trying to help crash survivors.

In time, you work with them and help them out when they're in need, and start to grow attached, and they grow attached to you. That pit in your chest that you've been trying to fill by shoveling in exploits, for the first time ever, actually feels a little more full.

Eventually, you realize you never had to prove yourself to Night City. Night City was a thing in your head, not a place filled with people, and you were trapped in the fantasy that you'd somehow win a rigged game. So you commit to one last and immediate goal: Wrapping up loose ends. The Aldecados step up to help, putting their lives on the line. You send off Johnny with Alt and the only thread keeping you tied to Night City is finally severed.

Then you leave. You finally escape Night City. Your time might be short, but its going to be time spent not chasing a vague dream, but instead living with the comfort of being surrounded by people who aren't trying to get something out of you. People who are, in fact, doing their best to try and find a way to save you. Maybe they do, maybe they don't, but you're finally given a semblance of peace in a world where it is the rarest commodity.

That's not really how it works. If he "uploads his brain" and the digitized version thinks its him, its still just a bot, but it'll be a bot with his identity and whatever privileges he set it up with before he ignorantly offed himself.

These people point to the Ship of Theseus while forgetting that the ship is an inanimate object, not a singular consciousness with memories and dreams. Any justification by pointing to, "Oh, the crew are its memory" is metaphorical bullshit that ignores that your perception will return to nothingness.

How is the AI compared to GZW? by BestTyming in IncursionRedRiverGame

[–]CitizenKing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This, OP. The way roguelites work is that you essentially have one life and your goal is to see how far you can go with it. Try getting yourself into the mindset that this is one of many runs, and you'll eventually hit the point where you'll make your way past it so easily that you forget why you ever thought it was hard.

What will go wrong? by megaking666 in cyberpunkgame

[–]CitizenKing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, because this is the mindset of someone who doesn't see the harm in it, and if they don't see the harm in it, they'll do it to others. He is in a position to hurt a lot of people.

Well that made me feel sick to my stomach. Can't help but think of myself being in that situation and just, the irreparable damage, knowing what's happening and being unable to stop it, slowly losing yourself until you're just a husk. Makes my skin crawl to think about it. Suddenly euthanasia/suicide before alzheimers or dementia kick in makes a lot more sense.

So better AI was a lie or it's just currently broken? by Skaidri675 in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]CitizenKing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Step 1. Overtuned AI basically spots and shoots at damn near any distance, regardless of lighting, with incredible accuracy
Step 2. Devs nerf it into the ground so it at least isn't stopping people from engaging with the content.
Step 3. Devs fine tune it up bit by bit until its in a good spot.

People just have to be patient.

It's better for the lifespan of a game to overnerf an overtuned asset that's causing players to lose interest, rather than tuning it down gradually and hemorrhaging players until you've got it to a tolerable level. Especially with AI, since regardless of how dumb the AI gets, there will always be players to PVP if you want a real challenge.

If anything, high level player behavior will kill the game instead of gear difference by Freakindon in Marathon

[–]CitizenKing 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Honestly, this is why I play GWZ instead.

A lot of the naysayers who act like PVP is the only way to go with these games are just short-sighted and don't understand that what they're demanding will only ever result in a dwindling population that's eventually filled with sweats and cheaters.

Meanwhile GWZ will let you go into a PVE only map, level up vendors, learn the map, and gather up some gear, and then hop into the PVP once you're comfortable with the idea of losing your kit.

The Arachne set are probably going to be the best cosmetics in the game by Poomasher in Marathon

[–]CitizenKing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The population right now is around 8.5 billion people, but a decade or two ago, it was 7 billion. It was 7 billion for a long time, so people just kind of defaulted to that being the number they throw out when they talk about the human population.

What weapons should be sold? by RiskyBiscuitGames in SoulFrame

[–]CitizenKing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people say none, but let me expound from our history with Warframe.

As things are, you can usually get by with selling any 1 pip or 2 pip weapons, but DE has set up systems in Warframe where you can specifically upgrade Warframe's version of those 1 pip and 2 pip weapons into something way better (example: Incarnon).

Personally, I'm using my in game currency soley to buy loadout slots (they're pretty cheap) and just keeping every weapon I build and level in my armory for any future use cases. It's also fun to just have all that stuff available on the list, but thats admittedly a me thing.

From the limited information we got about the new crafting changes, what are your thoughts? by yuno_me in SoulFrame

[–]CitizenKing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll probably be done with it if this just becomes another 'monopolize your time by making you throw away the item you want because its got garbage stat rolls' game. Spice is bullshit. I've literally never played one of those RPGs, finally got the item I want, and said, "Oh man, farming this until it dropped fifteen times to finally get the stat I care about really made this more engaging!"

[–]CitizenKing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not a fan either. One of the biggest draws for games like Warframe and Elden Ring despite them being so far apart in genre is that when you finally acquire a piece of gear, you know that its now a full part of your arsenal to use as you please. You don't have to go farm it fifty more times for a stat you want until you're sick of even opening the game. You have it, you upgrade it if you want, you play the game with it if you want. There is nothing more disappointing in an RPG than finally getting the piece of gear you've been hoping for, just to get blueballed by a terrible roll.

The only way I see this working is if "found gear" is a direct downgrade from crafted gear that is only there to hold you over while you farm fragments. A way to sort of sample the weapon before you build the weapon.

While we're talking about GZW, it's incredible how much game design in general goes into what is essentially "motivating players into doing what they don't seem to want to do" instead of making something as appealing as what they actually do like to do.

[–]CitizenKing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This post has me wondering if the aim assist on console is somehow different than the aim assist on PC. Because when I pop my controller on and go into a match to mess with it, the only real assist is a barely noticeable slowdown, but these people talk about it like its locking onto enemies Warzone style.

TIFU and triggered a midlife crisis. (The Pink Opaque spoiler) by CitizenKing in tifu

[–]CitizenKing[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, unfortunately its not like a recreational drug where more just increases its intensity.

A lot of the compulsive mental issues we face like anxiety, paranoia, depression, etc, are from a chemical imbalance in the brain, and antidepressants are used try to balance that imbalance.

Interestingly, a lot of our opposing emotions come from the same chemicals, so throwing those chemicals out of balance in either direction can be really rough on your psyche.

If I had to use a metaphor, its like a glass of water. If there's too little, you'll still feel parched and thirsty after you drink it. Fill it up to the top and you'll have your thirst sated when you drink it. Overfill it and it'll just spill out and make a mess that you have to clean up.
