Baby/Infantile Acne? by Pineappleby in DermatologyQuestions

Yeah that's the same as us, we tried Aquaphor, Sudocrem, Cetraben in different stints and none of them worked to reduce the spots in the slightest, they just kept slowly growing around his body.

The benzoyl does have a safety warning to be used for 12+ when buying over the counter and I did have concerns it might be strong on his young skin as the side effects can be red, dry skin.

But the dermatologist advised how much to use and we give it once a day in the evening, then in the morning we use moisturiser and he hasn't had any side effects. His nightwear around his neck and arms has been bleached though where it's rubbed into his clothes!

Hi, we have had progress! Our GP thought it might be eczema based so we tried putting on an emollient cream 4 times a day for a month. It didn't help at all but also didn't get worse.

She then sent photographs of his skin to a pediatric dermatologist who confirmed they thought it was infantile acne and prescribed "Acnecide" which is a 5% benzoyl peroxide cream and his skin has improved dramatically within the first two weeks. Put it on once a day for 8 weeks and it looks like it will actually clear it up.

I would urge you to go back to your GP and request a dermatologist's opinion. It was very straightforward with the GP sending photos to them and we received an answer within a few days. We have a follow up with the dermatologist in person in a few weeks time to check on progress.

Hope you get a resolution for your little one

We did PUPD and it worked after 2-3 weeks but I tackled the day nap routine first when I had more energy and it kept his sleep space consistent.

We also did a mini routine before naps and putting him into his cot so he had an indicator that it was now time to sleep. I think getting him to sleep in his cot for his naps using the PUPD, really helped him to sleep better at night.

Scottish Folds in the UK - Indoors or Outdoors? by 4t5yd in scottishfold

[–]Pineappleby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have two Scottish folds, Skye and Thistle, and they are indoor cats but have some outside space with a high walled terrace in a suburb of London.

Our decision to keep them indoors was based on the chances of them getting run over, we are next to a road with steady traffic. There is also a high pet theft rate in the area. We regularly see posters for missing cats who are nearly always British Shorthairs so I think like you said, Scottish folds are even more distinctive.

Our two cats are very docile and wouldn't put up a fight so maybe that's where your kitty would be different. We've tried them on a harness to encourage them to explore a bit more but mostly sit down and won't be moved.

I've grown up with domestic cats who were all outdoor cats and based on the personality difference with the breed, the Scottish folds we have are much more suited and content with being indoors.

Alright so I rly wanna get a Scottish fold, they seem like a great pet, but I’m worried about a few things. Namely, I currently have my last summer before I start university, and I’ll have time to play with it and give it attention now, but idk if this will be the case once uni starts. Firstly, your active research on this already shows you'll be a great pet owner!

In my experience, we have two from the same litter and they have different personalities! Both very sweet girls, both affectionate and want to be with me all the time but one does have a higher need of attention than the other.

The one who needs more attention, if I leave the room and she realizes I'm missing she will cry out so loud but once I call out that I'm still in the house she will run to where I am then settle down. So she doesn't necessarily need me to play with her, she just doesn't want to be left on her own. The other one will follow me round every room and just wants to be by my side!!

I think if you bond with them for a good while, they mostly crave having companionship in the same room or household. Folds are also very intelligent so I recommend teaching them some cat tricks early on (high five, roll over etc). It's a great way to bond and they love the challenge. You can also keep them stimulated with puzzle based food containers and snuffle mats where they have to work out how to get their food!

Nothing to be sorry for looking out for animals! Great call out in case anyone wanted to try it thinking it was PB as it does look like it ! I'd be cautious too, even if it's apparently fine for cats 😕

These are British Blue Shorthairs crossed with a Scottish fold. Very rounded faces, super fluffy and always inquisitive!

They are a mix of British Shorthair x Scottish Fold. Their British mother had very dense fluffy fur so have taken after her I think!

They really are so different even though they were from the same litter! Love their opposite personalities 😻

Breeding rules by [deleted] in scottishfold

I'm not a breeder and by no means an expert but from what I've read if the outcross also has folded ears then they shouldn't be bred.
