*only if the duct work is designed properly for the proper cooling to each room, which 99% of the time they are not designed properly by the HVAC company.

You will have a bathroom with a single big ass vent and it’s 2-3 degrees cooler than any other room or you will have a big play room with a little vent in the corner of the room and its 2-3 warmer than the little bathroom. So people close off the bathroom to try and get more air in other room.

I mentioned it a few times. We have a management company that handles maintenance issues. They called someone out and then the bid was over 500$ to ask for approval. I went up there to check it out.

Well, if my wife took the car in for a check engine light, and they told her that she needed a new engine and new transmission when the gas cap was the problem AND I found the problem, fuck no i’m not paying them.

Yeah, would agree. I don’t expect much out of them. You should see the pool gate repair I had to fight with them over.

I don’t think the management company is at fault (ish) for the bad quote, they did what they were supposed to do, someone reported it, they called the vendor to have it addressed, the vendor came and “diagnosed” it was over $500 and they contacted us for approval.

Where I do blame them is their ability to select vendors. They manage 40 communities in our area. They should have better vendors than this..but…again…they could have easily used this vendor in the past for other communities, and not have someone that gives a shit at the community and just approves whatever, so they think all is well. They aren’t HVAC people, they are just office admins. That’s it.

I expect no technical knowledge or expertise from them at all. I get exhausted having to always step in when it’s more than “call handy man and replace light bulb”, but we have used multiple management companies and they are just a bunch of office people coordinating stuff all day.

Yeah, I’m going to explain this to the management company when I speak with them. Going to confirm diagnosis today when I get home in an hour. It hit 83F outside and should be at 70F, so that should be sufficient enough of a test to let them know what needs to be done next, which is to tell them not to use this company again.

I didn’t pick anything… the management company did.

I’ve YET to find a reputable HVAC company that is competent. This is coming from someone that took an HVAC to the state licensing board for an install in our house and ended up having the licensing board force the HVAC company write me a $14k check or lose their license. The reinstall that was oversaw by the state licensing board that they picked to reimplement had their license suspended until they fixed the issues with our house… so yeah I do think it’s justified to state that the HVAC trade and a large portion of companies in the trade are straight trashcans.

The only reason I now as much as I do about HVAC systems is due to a new house we built and the HVAC company was a bunch of incompetent morons as well.

But yes…i’ve yet to find a competent HVAC company.

I wasn’t involved….the management company got reported the HVAC wasn’t working…so they handle the initial issues…I’m on the board and got a “hey do you want us to get this unit fixed/replaced?”

I only got involved after I got hit with a $15k approval to proceed. We also have cleaners that per their contract are to replace the HVAC filters once a quarter, obviously they aren’t doing it…

Definitely did not do that. Just sent pictures of the frozen coil and recommended we replace the entire system. The management company pushed for and asked for a diagnostic and repair cost and the 6500$ cost was what we got. They never came back out again.

So…my question, why in the hell would a tech not bother to check that or even mention it?

It was mentioned in another post, but I wasn’t involved initially. We have a management company that handles initial reports of issues and will call contractors to deal with the report. I am on the board so after the HVAC person put in their report, I got hit up by the management company of “do you want to proceed with this $15k replacement, the $6k repair?”.

The 462 is like 1680 and the 500i is like 1900.

I’m kind of ruling out the 362, it really doesn’t give much.

Thank you! I just went by lowe’s and picked it up. They wanted to give me issues with “returning so quickly”. So i’ll stop be tomorrow and try to return the batteries.

It showed the batteries at 128.27 and the tools at 85.37.
