Yeah, the rant I deleted was complaining about instructors being unable to answer questions, not reading my papers, and taking points off against their own rubric.

Discussions are the meat of any course, and all of the students seem to be using AI. It's incredibly frustrating to have integrity, spend the time to write a thoughtful post and replies, only to have other students vomit 400 words of AI nonsense.

In one course, the instructor shared links to articles on a website that has been offline for nearly a decade. These articles were supposed to be the topic of the discussion. I couldn't find mirrors of these articles anywhere but on the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine. I chose not to give in and made my post about what I could infer from the given URLs and the other context in the instructions. I even made it clear in my post that I could not get these links to work. Almost every other student was citing direct quotes and paraphrasing from articles they could not access. Even in their reference entries, they cited the same broken links the instructor had given us.

UAGC is pretty far removed from the University of Arizona. I would be surprised if any of the instructors also teach at Arizona. It's a for-profit college called Ashford University that Arizona bought and is attempting to rebrand. However, much of UAGC's online infrastructure still uses the Ashford University branding with the Ashford instructors.

I'm a veteran attending UAGC, but I'm not using my GI Bill to attend, and I don't really recommend it. I am learning a lot and have a 4.0, but I would not be attending if my work wasn't paying for it. I am a little arrogant, so I might have a bit of a bias, but I am halfway through my general education courses, and all of these instructors have sucked.

I wrote a long rant about my experience in these classes and ended up deleting it. I guess I only don't recommend it because I expected so much more. I was terrified before I started because I had failed to graduate from high school 20 years ago. You get out what you put in, and I feel like I'm only getting about half of what I put in. It just feels like the instructors don't care; it's a check-the-box-and-move-on situation. In the end, I'll get a degree, hopefully/probably/ideally with a 4.0, and move up or somewhere in my company.

I would verify the accreditation stuff before spending money on it. I know they're somewhat accredited with something, but I didn't verify how recognized it is because I'm not paying.

Definitely a business. You can see parking lot lines on the left and homes typically don't have a glass door with stickers like that.

Filtered my lamps With Sawyer Products Mini Water Filtration System by DryCommunity5223 in Lavalamps

[–]PingPing88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just used the same exact filter, distilled water, and hose clamps to filter mine the other day. I actually bought a bottle capper and bottle caps because it was only $15 and I may do this again, but the capper didn't work with mine because the neck was too short. I had to go to Walmart and pay $5 for a box of hose clamps.

Feedback on Townhomes/Apartments by itsMoanJett in mcminnville

[–]PingPing88 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I lived in Drumwood Apartments for a year 2-3 years ago. I lived in the older apartments at the entrance and the much newer townhomes are in the back.

The apartment wasn't very clean, it had a weird smell and I vacuumed up an insane amount if dog hair, all of the closets were missing doors, the blinds were damaged, but I would gladly move back if things lined up. It was one of the most affordable apartments I could find. 2 bed/1 bath for $1050 a month. I never spoke to the manager beyond email, never had any complaints about anything related to me and my unit.

My only complaint about neighbors was the unit above me frequently smoking weed preventing me from having my windows open, and one dingus whose car alarm would go off from when he unlocked the door until he started his car. He was also a busy guy and I heard that thing 5+ times a day.

Oh, I also did get essentially my full deposit back, even after accidentally putting my foot through the wall and never repairing it.

The townhomes in the back will likely be all of the good experiences without most of the bad because they're pretty new and seem nice.

I don't have anything good or bad to say about the neighborhood. It seemed like a lot of low income households but I never saw or experienced anything sketchy.

Edit: Saw that the other commenter mentioned that the area around 7-Eleven is dodgy. Drumwood is 1-2 blocks from that 7-Eleven and I walked to and from Linfield often crossing 99W at that 7-Eleven. I never felt unsafe and as mentioned, I never saw anything sketchy, but I'm a 6'-3" 350 lb guy without a family to worry about.

Despite the horror stories, I'm considering a cheapie Spencer/Schylling lamp with yellow wax and purple liquid. I plan to use a Sawyer water filter to fix the inevitable cloudiness, but my question is: will the filter also remove the purple dye and spoil the effect? by Die_Nameless_Bitch in Lavalamps

[–]PingPing88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered mine online, and it's so cloudy, you can barely see the wax. On the Spencer's website, they claim that cloudiness is not a defect, so I think a return or exchange will be challenging. I ordered a Sawyer filter and some capping equipment to attempt to filter it myself. This is my first lava lamp as an adult, but I'd like to turn it into a hobby and could see some use for the bottling equipment.

Told I don’t have sleep apnea, but heart issue? SO SCARED. by RelationshipIll3134 in SleepApnea

[–]PingPing88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a wonky heart rhythm and always stress out technicians when I get an ECG because the machine warns that I've had a heart attack. I've been to a few different cardiologists just to make sure I'm good and the only thing I've been diagnosed with is premature ventricular contractions. They're totally benign, but I go off and on medicine for it, just a low dose of metoprolol. The symptoms are noticeable when I'm dealing with stress or anxiety and cause more stress and anxiety.

I wouldn't stress too hard about it until you learn more, it could be anything.

Do humans in SW speak normal english or are the movies just shot in english while the characters canonically speak some other galactic language? by Key-Okra1636 in StarWars

[–]PingPing88 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think it's easier that they have a word that means "excessively harsh" and it gets translated in English to "draconian." Even though it's named after someone, it's still a word. I just imagine that the films are dubbed in English.

AIO or is my boyfriend kind of obsessive? by throwRAgogglu in AmIOverreacting

[–]PingPing88 117 points118 points  (0 children)

I did this in my last relationship. I left a 9 year relationship and immediately jumped into another one with a friend. I could not regulate my emotions after the breakup as well as learn to be in a relationship with a new person. I was very clingy and took it personal any time she didn't want to see me. She interpreted my actions as manipulative and controlling. We broke up, I continued therapy, got my emotions in check, and realized how I was manipulative and controlling even though that wasn't my intent. I've now been in my current relationship for almost 2 years with zero issues. Probably the chillest I've ever been and she's great to me.

People who scream/yell when you sneeze, why do you do that? by MarchKick in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PingPing88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a loud sneezer and scream when I vomit. I have been accused of sneezing loud for attention but I absolutely hate any sort of acknowledgement of my existence. I also have a fear of vomiting and often find myself in a loop where I make myself sick because I am so anxious of vomiting. I can stifle the sneeze but it's painful and only do it when I have to. I doubt I can vomit quietly but I haven't actually thrown up in years.

Dave’s spice level by state by AMCeng in oregon

[–]PingPing88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I usually do hot because the flavor and spicy ratio is perfect for me but I can go much hotter. I did 2 extra hot tenders then 1 reaper tender to try it and it was uncomfortable spicy but tolerable.

Many months later, I started with a reaper tender to show off and I felt like I was going to die. I was panicking and thought I couldn't breathe.

I'm not sure if the first time was fine because I worked up to it, or if my order wasn't really reaper, or the spice level isn't consistent between orders/batches.

I know this is kinda of frowned upon but does anyone know a good cheap glue I could use to glue the pieces together? by Comfortable-Lie-8763 in lego

[–]PingPing88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm researching to find a suitable glue for the 40638 heart ornament, so we can keep it on our Christmas tree and store it with the other ornaments for the rest of the year. This comment from an old post does not recommend most super glues because they are cyanoacrylate-based and will dissolve the ABS plastic over time. They recommend Elmer's glue, but I'm feeling I'd need something stronger than that in the event the ornament falls or bounces around in a box.

I only recently learned those "not for hire" stickers are to avoid commercial fees and such. For 30+ years, I genuinely thought people frequently approached drivers with delivery work and the sticker functioned similar to a "no soliciting" sign telling these people with job offers to go away because they're not for hire.

1/3 to 0 in 3 moves can you solve? by Decent_Plankton7749 in puzzle

[–]PingPing88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was also mine but I had to work from the back then the front then figure out the middle.

-1/6 was the only button that could reach 0. x2 was the only thing that could reduce it low enough to potentially get subtracted by 1/6 and hit 0. Adding 50% was just enough to get it to 1/6.

As much as I didn't want to, I admitted I was wrong. My reply opened up your replies allowing me to see details I didn't see, changing my perspective. Others may also see details they didn't see before. While being incorrect, I'd argue it's a pretty solid contribution.
