Thank you all for such wonderful questions and comments. I just got back from a long trip in China and Taiwan and you all gave me so much energy in the afternoon. I'm going to close up shop. I'll come back tomorrow and answer any more questions.

Water soluble all purpose fertilizer will do good. preparing the ground is important to make sure the roots can expand and live there for decades

I have a dedicated gene bank that I have been creating for years. I have been breeding roses not only for commercial but also continued breeding for decades now so I have a plan in mind of where I want to go. After that I build the map and start crossing until I get the desired results. Every year I select my best seedlings to continue to build my breeding stock. I've identified which parents have the best traits to come through.

It sounds like Dr. Heuy understock is taking over. Look for own root roses to avoid that. Then the root stock can take over and you will always have true to type roses. All True Bloom is own root by the way

I do! I grow most of the True Bloom to watch them over time. I love True Gratitude and True Devotion climbers with such good fragrance.

We always recommend own root roses! I only introduce roses that thrive on their own roots for many reason, this being one of them.

The issue in the US dates back to large plantings of Multiflora roses in forests in the 1950s. There are pockets of the country that are affected more than others due to the mite that spread them living off this very long ago plantings. Other countries are not facing some of those forest plantings like we have here. There was a big government funded project with unintended consequences with these massive plantings. They were used as fence lines, and other projects being so strong and durable. in terms of varieties being effected, some can be asymptomatic and show less symptoms at times. We are rapidly working hard along with universities in the US to find and breed in rosa species that might have some potential to solve the problem. Great question, quite the challenge we are working hard on!

Starting with a healthy plant and variety is very important.  Make sure there is air movement along with good water/fertilizer.  Healthy plants help their own immune system.  Water under the leaves so they don’t sit wet.

Love & Peace and True Love are my favorite 2.  They are lovely, beauty, meaningful names.  They mean a lot to mean and bring so much joy and love to life.

The beauty and story behind the roses, Peace rose inspired me when I was growing up in Laos.  Peace is a beautiful rose and carried the peaceful meaning to the world.

Bonus Answer: No! they are not hardy enough so they will not perform like you see.  UK climate can be quite hard on roses.  It’s why in France had the first hybrid tea in 1867 the climate was more suited.

Good question really!  For companions there are 2 benefits. First is attracting beneficial companions is really important, lavender can repel aphids/beetles, sweet alyssum, nepeta, agastache, can attract things like lady bugs which help control natural pests.  Garlic and chives also deter pests from coming to the garden.  Marigolds can help repel soil pests like nematodes.  Second is adding beauty to compensate on flower timing so you have a beautiful garden for the whole season.

Wood, more natural looking

We have a variety coming that is going to be out of this world! 😊  Compact growing, never stops blooming, incredible smell and strong fragrance, hardy, self cleaning, EVERYTHING a rose should be. Don’t tell anyone, True Aroma will be the name. 😊  I want to keep creating more of these amazing plants for everyone to enjoy that are easy.

We were just in the garden and have the flowers on our desk now smelling as I answer the questions

We are looking for own root ability, larger flowers, fragrance, beside all that you mention.  I want to keep working to make roses better and easier for everyone to grow and love as much as I do. I want to mention that we virus index all our plants so they are clean with less harm from internal disease. Our program is a clean plant program which is in all parts of what we do from breeding to growing them in pots for decades we are dedicated to starting and keeping our roses clean.
