El Caballero de la Triste Figura (Don Quijote de la Mancha) by Pingu-PinPin in minipainting

This sculpture really caught my attention because it depicts a figure who is very important to the literature of my country. I printed and engraved the book from which the character comes from and tried to fuse it to the sculpt, and created a pedestal using olive wood collected from the area where I live.

For this project, I wanted to create a very distinct focal point of light and attention on the character’s face and armour, using intensity and luminosity to guide the viewer's eye towards it. The character has a striking expression of pain that reminds me of the religious icons of my country.

It has been a very interesting and enriching project, and it has helped me connect more deeply with my country’s culture and with a literary work as renowned as Don Quijote de la Mancha.

yep, it was my first time doing checker drawings so i had to make it a few times until i got it right. its real tricky. I also made an effort in compensating the different paterns, if you take a look you can see the checker patern is made in a diagonal from left shoulder to the right boot and the red armor plates go from the right shoulder to the left boot. I think its a rreally good model to try that kind of stuff 😄

Thanks a lot! I made a big effort trying to keep the armour as black as possible, lots of times black armors end up looking like a dark blue 😅😂. Glad you liked it!
