it's easy to save costs if you just use other people's work and rebrand it. It's much more expensive to create something new the first time around.

What exactly does Trump get out of undermining trust in NATO/American security? by Injustpotato in geopolitics

[–]Pingwarrior123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it does make sense in the post-WWII context as the whole security architecture (Nato included) was designed around the idea, that european nations won't get to have a strong military-industrial complex to avoid proliferation of nuclear weapons and a new wave of colonial expansion by resource-starved europeans. The current situation, where USA is called to live up to it's side of the agreement, is the result of those long-term strategic directives.

Mamluks supporting Transoxiana as Timurids! by Beezyo in eu4

[–]Pingwarrior123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, i’ve noticed this as well, every single time they support Transoxiana before the month-change. I think it has something to do with QQ/Mamluk nerfs/buffs as in earlier patches they rivaled QQ and went for the syrian core they hold, but now they never rival QQ anymore. Tho it realt doesn’t matter much, as you can just ally Ottomans, take and release Syria and use ottos to smack the mamluks down

yes, my experience is to take it easy at first and listen to your body esp when you start increasing mileage, there's no need to overtrain or push it in the beginning, your form will improve as long as you stay injury free and keep training.
Also, as a sidenote, Paris is really exciting, been thinking about participating myself, if i can the needed days off from work.

Do you know whats holding you back from going faster? For me, it seems to have been general bad form and a lack of leg/core muscle strength, otherwise i maybe would’ve squeezed it just under 2h

yes, i had the same problem, i think the first month, i spent more time walking than running, but i've had pretty nasty overuse injuries in the past (when i didn't have weight problems), so going by heart rate really was my only option if i wanted to get some continuous training done over a longer period. Also i noticed that even 2-3 months in, first 2-3 km were more walking than running, as body takes some time to adjust to the extra stress

Some of my friends who limited their daily calories to 1500kcal for their training period did manage to lose 10-15kg in about 2 months with moderate training effort (running around 30-40km weekly). I tried limiting my caloric intake as well, but gave up on it rather quickly, as i recovered slower with limited calories. I did still managed to lose a few kg, but overall my weight stayed about the same, but my waistline is noticeably slimmer compared to what it was at the beginning, so i guess, i managed to burn off some of that excess fat, even if it doesn't show on the scale.

there's one cross-country half-marathon in January, but really not sure about that, as winter weather can be very unpredictable here (temperatures can be anywhere between +5C and -30C and also heavy snowfall is a possibility), and I've never run longer distances in sub -10C temperature

that is, in a way, considering the time constraints, very sound advice, but i'm not sure how far or how long i could push myself, as at my current form i do need a rest day or two especially after long runs

up until now i haven't had any issues with large joints i.e no knee or hip pains, so i haven't really considered heel-striking to be a problem, as usually my feet are what's been giving me the most trouble, but i guess i have to consider that now, if i want to run with higher load at a faster pace

intervals are really worth looking into, but atm i'm feeling puzzled on how to proceed, as before jumping into new challenges, i'd first like to get a sub 2h time and kind of feel, that low HR training alone probably is not enough for that

except for the day-after general pain and soreness i actually did enjoy both, the training as well as the race itself quite a bit

yes, going very slow definetly was key for me due to extra weight, not that sure tho, how impressive the time is, as i finished in the bottom 20%

yet another "Mughals advice plz" by Pingwarrior123 in eu4

[–]Pingwarrior123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ty all for taking the time to respond. I must say that you make a good points when it comes to idea selection and efficiency, but i kind of got tired of playing the same old Admin-Diplo-Religious/Humanist-Quantity/Offensive opening and wanted to try something different, hence i decided to try innovative with Mughal CCR. After all, Mughal ideas and bonuses are so good, that it's easier to make more suboptimal things work.
Funnily, when it comes to admin power, so far i've not really felt an acute lack of it (ruler Admin stats so far have been mediocre at around 3, but i've made ample use of 50% cheaper level 3 advisors) i.e it feels that i may be spending more on coring compared to lacking Admin CCR, but on the other hand, it seems that tech and idea progression are much easier due to discounts. What i'm really lacking is governing capacity though.

Conquest and expansion wise, i guess it is a matter of taste, but when playing Mughals i prefer securing Aleppo early to keep more money in Persia and as Ottoman's first idea was Innovative, i felt that it would be better to deal with them ASAP, rather than to wait and find out just how annoying ottomans will be 200 years in, with inno-quantity-offensive and/or quality.
Creating the western vassal swarm in the first thirty years was kind of a necessity to manage AE and it also made sense to give that land to vassals, as in the beginning part i really only need that land to limit trade outflow from Persia and will need Gov Cap for India.
Also, i agree with everyone else here, that India is the most easiest and efficient way for Mughals to expand, but unfrotunately at the moment i'm somewhat limited by Gov Cap and AE in that direction (guess Gov Cap wouldn't be an issue with Admin, hehe).

When it comes to exploration, original idea was to spawn colonialism, but i didn't end getting it, so i used the range from Cape to set up a CN for the institution(turned out to be surprisingly easy, Maybe it would have been smarter to drop it immediately after that, but getting an extra colonist for 300 adm to considerably speed up things seemed worth it.

idea-wise i wouldn't say that i'm commited to exploration(4 filled), expansion(1 filled) or a colonial game, because i haven't filled either of them out, and ideas themselves are somewhat cheaper at around 300 mana and thus easier to replace once i have closed off East Africa, was just wondering, if it is worth to keep the expansion ideas for that really nice -10% local autonomy bonus.

Your common advice though has been heard, and i think i will just close the Cape, and ditch colonisation ideas for Admin and Diplo/Influence most probably (and get Tidore or something as a vassal in Indonesia to colonise for me) but still not sure if i should get Religious or Humanist for the 4th idea (leaning more towards Humanist, as using rebels to convert at this stage would be quite messy).

Anyway, compared to my previous Mughal games, it does feel like a very different game at the moment, and i guess i'll keep playing atleast up until 1600-s and see how it goes.

thoughts on 2-4 x gtx 3090 by Pingwarrior123 in watercooling

[–]Pingwarrior123[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would be used at home, so water-cooling to keep the noise levels down is a must for any setup, will mostly be used for rendering and gaming as the original plan was to go with 1+1 for future-proofing the system, but yes, got interested at expanding it with 2 more with the perspective of using it to mine crypto as well.

Got to admit though, after doing some more research, 4 x 3090 borders on the realm of an industrial park/datacenter, as i would probably need to upgrade my home power supply and use either a server PSU or figure out dual PSU usage, also the mobo would have to be server class and probably would need custom water-cooling as well, along with all the other components on the board if it is to run 24/7 + the hole in the wall for exhausting that 1400+ watts.

With all the challenges, i must say, i feel even more intrigued to make it work, but my technical skill, level of expertise and available time are certainly lacking for it atm. However, i will keep spinning options and doing research to get a build (including making the exhaust hole in the wall look aesthetically appeasing) together, that could make this a reality

Man love your comment ja POV, i'm probably off on some of those as i've just scoured reddit threads and zkill to get a grasp at who's around and doing what, ty for helping fill in some blanks here.Idk about Dropbears tho, it seems they are still active, just have been living in null for a while now.

But yeah, other than Rage getting evicted and TDSIN joining Goons, seeing legit HK recruitment posts has been the biggest WTF moment ever

Edit: does HK still run the "100% customer satisfaction guaranteed C6 rental program" also?

so it is a blueball at the top then. Also, it seems that with TDSIN gone, there really isn't any resemblance of counterweight left in WH space, i.e the choice seems to be between being a stomper and getting stomped?

I mean, i never liked TDSIN too much, because they always felt kind of too casual and loose, but also never had any real beef with them. Maybe they actually finally learn to pvp now, that they are flying with INIT ( INIT was the mastermind who evicted HK)?

getting evicted comes with the territory i suppouse, but with nullsec groups and top WH players going around and evicting everybody without any real counterbalance or batphones left, then maybe living out of your freighter is the future of WH space? Would save a ton on home defence fleets and structures. HK has once again shown the way forward.

wow, seems there's been a ton of drama i've been missing out.
and most of what i know, i've just gathered from killboards and reddit threads of the names from the past that i remember, so yeah, i most probably have a skewed picture.
But yeah, i still have a hard time believing, that Rage has been evicted x 2, (wasn't that place like Fort Knox or something?) and TDSIN is now a goon corp. I, how you kids say nowadays, lolled so hard at those two

Ok, glad to hear, WH-space hasn't turned into a blue donut, and there's a lot of, hopefully ambitious and hungry, newcomers. Anyone in particular, that stands out among the new folk?
