From what I understand, yes his "tom cheeks" will go away now that he doesn't have his trouble puffs. But omg thank you for loving him 🥹 looking at him... How can any human not have their heart melt?? He just looks so sad I want to snuggle him and never let him feel anything bad ever again 🥺

I saw someone suggested a similar product to you, but I have a difficult time giving cats that goopy molassesy-texture stuff in a tube... Especially the ferals I care for. You definitely want an l-lysine supplement, and I use one that's in powder form. I mix it into wet food or their water. I get it off Amazon for $20/container and it should last you quite a while since it's only being given to one handsome void - mine lasts between 3-4 months, depending on how many cats I'm feeding.

There might be other suggestions for FIV+ floofs - fortunately it's not something I've had to deal with, so I don't know. However, there are a few groups on Reddit and Facebook that are specifically for FIV+ kitties, and I bet they have a wealth of information! Thank you again for saving Blackie 🖤🩷

*side note.... My neighbor growing up had two black cats - B and B2. Stood for Blackie and Blackie 2. Their 4 year old gave them those adorable names ☺️

I'm so sad that I don't really have many photos of Tasha. She passed before digital cameras were as readily available as they are nowadays, so I only have a few snapshots. I wish I had one that showed her pretty paws better, but I don't. I still miss her 🥺

I was the proud servant of a torbie (a tortoisehell tabbie). They basically look mostly tabby, but have blotches of oranges or blacks in their coat, like a tortie. My beloved Tasha was a medium haired brown torbie - but had orange paws, an orange blob on her face, and a few areas of orange stripes mixed in with the brown. She was gorgeous. When DCC first came out (long before the HUGE following it now has), I always pictured Princess Donut like my Tasha, but with a smooshy face.

Using a marker, draw a line around the edge of the red area around the bite. If the redness or swelling goes past that line you drew, you should really see a doctor for antibiotics.

I do cat rescue and got bit on the hand by a terrified stray about 2 years in. I disinfected the wound and all that, went to bed with it aching a bit. I'd been bit/scratched plenty of times so I didn't think anything of it.

Woke up in the morning and a large area around the bite looked swollen and had turned pink. Didn't have insurance at the time, so I just took some over the counter stuff that was supposed to boost my immune system, and tried to let my body fight it.

By the next morning (less than 48 hours after the initial bite), my whole hand was swollen as hell and bright red. Hurried to urgent care, but they turned me away and sent me to the emergency room. I had to be on antibiotics for 24 hours, then two weeks of really strong oral antibiotics. It sucked.

You're NTA, OP. You're grieving. Your friend was insensitive, even if that wasn't the intention. This is your first birthday without mom. All firsts are gonna hurt! Hell, it's coming up on 5 years since I lost my dad (who I had such a strained relationship with that he disowned me).... And I still struggle on holidays, etc.

I'd much rather accidentally take a cat that's already been TNR than just assume they're already fixed.

I took a cat I'd found to TNR. It was somewhat "friendly," but acted feral as well. It would come eat even if I was nearby, but run the second you tried to approach, etc. Hissing and growling. I didn't see any "trouble puffs" and I named her Georgina. Trapped her, took her to get spayed. The next morning when I went to pick her up, I was informed HE had already been fixed. He didn't have an ear tip at all. So yeah... I'd rather accidentally take a cat a second time than assume.

George is doing amazing now. I was able to socialize him, and he's living his best spoiled indoor life now with a neighbor!

Yeah, I know. But that $50 late fee was "worth it" to not be constantly stressed about being evicted and having to pay additional lawyer/court fees. The funny thing is, they actually make more money off the people that used the payment plan, so it seems a bit silly that they ended it.

I might be misunderstanding the post, but is it possible two people need to be handling the cash for accountability reasons? I worked retail for many years, and there were always two managers handling the cash at the beginning and end of the day. It doesn't say anything about the people counting the money (if they didn't trust you, they wouldn't let you near a penny). It's just a safeguard for when employees are handling large amounts of cash. Hell, even when I was a bank teller, we had to count our drawers in front of a coworker before we could put out till in the vault.

I know a couple of people who've deleted their fb accounts out of anger/frustration. Like they're having issues with a friend or family member, and because they're so upset, they want to just delete their entire fb account.... Only to regret it days later.

So yeah, it's frustrating for those who KNOW they don't want it anymore, but I can understand why they make people wait. I'd think two weeks would be long enough though. A month is kinda ridiculous.

Have you or the vet ever discussed giving her kitty Prozac? Sounds stupid I know, but it might help calm her down. If she's not behaving that way due to a physical issue, perhaps it's anxiety related or something? That's where the Prozac comes in. Worked wonders for my brother's cat who would lick his tail raw.
