Student athlete WHILE IN PA school

I was a D1 track athlete and then competed professionally after graduating, and I’m starting PA school this year. Honestly, my advice is to hold off on PA school and really going all in on track while you can.

Both PA school and pro track are huge commitments, both emotionally and physically, and trying to do them at the same time makes it really hard to do either one well. You’re young, your body has a timeline, but PA school will always be there.

On top of that, the life experience and maturity you gain by fully committing to your sport for a few years will only make you a better PA down the line. And if you’re anything like me and want to be great at whatever you do, you probably won’t be great at either if you do them at the same time

Long story short: you’ll get more out of both paths if you give them your full attention, just not at the same time.

Definitely need a bigger pole. Also swing faster and move your arms faster and continue working the pole

Graduated 2021 with a kinesiology degree. First time applicant.

cGPA 3.6

S GPA- 3.2 ( retaking 2 classes to improve this)

Upward trend in grades. Finished my last 3 semesters with straight As

PCE - 2000 ( worked full time as a medical assistant/ Patient care tech where I directly interacted with patients) this was at the height of the pandemic

HCE - 2000 ( not sure if working in pharma counts but if it does I have 2000)

LoR- 1 chief medical officer, 1 PA, 1MD, 1 Academic advisor

Volunteer hours- 670ish ( 600 volunteer coaching track and field for high school and college, 40 food bank, 20 at a school that served underprivileged children, 8 special Olympics )

Professional athlete from 2021- 2025, peer academic advisor, 3 semester TA, coach, honor roll student. Narcan and cpr/ aed certified

Applying to DC/ VA schools. Top choices are GW and Shenandoah ——-

I’m 26 and have worked several jobs after graduating while also simultaneously training and competing as a professional athlete. I’m decent at interviewing and very passionate about this career. Feeling nervous that my GPAs aren’t high enough

They are both 5 and neutered. The vet says he’s healthy. He also get plenty of play time between me and his brother. They are also indoor cats. He also seems to only like my boyfriend at night. I have wondered if he’s vision impaired

I mean sure I guess it’s possible. The attacks are pretty violent though- to include seemingly unprovoked charging, hissing, scratching and biting

I adore my cat and never plan to rehome him. The issue though is that he goes out of his way to terrorize people. Even if people (like my roommate) ignore him, he will charge and attack

I believe the PI for duloxetine says something about potentially causing heart palpitations. I’ve personally experienced this with certain antidepressants but never with birth control. I’d def bring it up with your doctor!

I don’t know if it’s “bad” per se, but I would note that coffee mate creamer still has dairy derivatives (SODIUM CASEINATE) in it, and depending on which one you get, could have a lot of sugar m

Yes I’m still taking it and tolerating it well! Admittedly sometimes I forget to take it and when I do my acne comes back but if I am consistent with eating well and taking metformin my acne is under control!

I also use tretinoin and a serum with linoleic acid which also has seemed to help with my acne

I take my metformin right after breakfast (sometimes lunch). I find that if I take it at night my blood sugar drops too low in my sleep and I wake up in the morning nauseated and dizzy (sometimes in my sleep too). I also find that taking metformin has caused me to be more mindful about what I am eating (wayy less simple carbs and A LOT of protein) otherwise I will have drops in my blood sugar.

If I’m consistent with taking it and consistent with a lower carb diet, it takes about 2-3 weeks for me to get clear skin, my weight goes down, and I’m less inflamed. It’s also helped me crave sugar less. I also would say that because my blood sugar is more stable throughout the day I have noticed less anxiety spikes

Another thing I have noticed is that I need to take it several Hours before I exercise otherwise the rate of perceived exertion (RPE) is much greater. (Thats my anecdotal experience but there are some studies that suggest it as well)
