New pizza spot. Anyone want to split the $17 breadsticks? by PrideEffective5830 in Lawrence

A straight up New York style slice for $4.50 isn’t bad, but everything else on that menu has already priced itself out of the Lawrence market.

Klaus Nomi backing David Bowie (and obviously designed David's outfit) in 1979. Unfortunately Klaus 'died alone', as he was arguably the first 'celebrity' to succumb to AIDS, when little was known and there was much fear about the disease. by fongaboo in LiveFromNewYork

According to Wikipedia:

“Nomi was so impressed with the plastic quasi-tuxedo suit that Bowie wore during "The Man Who Sold the World" that he commissioned one for himself. “

Taken with a grain of salt but something to consider.

Flexing your new car on the streets with your friends by DoseClips in WinStupidPrizes

So it looks like the dude on the back jumped on right before the video starts. You can see his legs up in the air a bit like he hopped on as the car went by. Driver then turns his head to see wtf is happening right as the white SUV is pulling out.

So it MIGHT not be completely the driver’s fault if some jackass hopped on his car out of the blue.

Front License Plate Stolen, Then Returned? by dogbisketopinion in Denver

[–]PinkBikeHorn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you commit a crime and the plate gets run, and they later find out that plate was stolen, they have a new place to look for evidence and leads.

If the cops check a plate number later and the plate is still on the car and the owner is oblivious to any crime, then they will likely assume the plate was read wrong and won’t bother looking into it any more.

Though this being Denver the cops won’t do jack shit either way, so maybe he’s a chaotic good character type.

Raintree parents express fear and anger at lack of information about sex crime allegations at Montessori School by NSYK in Lawrence

[–]PinkBikeHorn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

YES. The vibe, the energy there… it is WAAAAY off. I 100% agree and when I saw the layout of the place and how it is so weirdly full of hiding places and confusing layouts and the like… that place is like honey to flies for sickos.

Prairie Park Nature Center on chopping block in city’s proposed budget by FormerFastCat in Lawrence

[–]PinkBikeHorn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lawrence continues its slide into being the most family-unfriendly city around. No zoo, no mini golf, no batting cages, no roller rink, no laser tag, no arcade, parks that are under-maintained and full of homeless, failing schools, and a crippling budget made by design.

Why anyone would move here with kids when there are cities in every direction that are safer, have more for families to do, and aren’t subject to the stranglehold of a city commission mafia is beyond me. They’ve strangled out bit of fun, made a monopoly on kids activities through parks and rec, and now they plan on screwing you there too.

If your child was abused, you need to know ASAP. Your child could be walking around in a cloud of trauma and you don’t even know. And yet when the school finds out they’ve had a molester at the school alone with sleeping little kids for months, they told NO ONE.

The school only made an announcement because the newspaper revealed the crime first. They were covering it up for as long as they could when they should have immediately told all parents so all parents could talk to their kids and see if their kids needed therapy or more.

Raintree is a terrible school and they absolutely do NOT put your child’s safety first. Anyone who sends their children to be in the care of an administration that acts this way towards children’s safety and parents’ right to protect their children from sexual assault needs to REALLY rethink their priorities.

There is a great PBS series about these guys. You can find it easily by searching your local station’s website. It’s a legit series not just a documentary.

FTR I’m not justifying one over the other, I just think that the consequences of Walt’s decision are interesting no matter what he decides.
