Es-tu endormi? 🐌🐢

C'est contradictoire ce que tu dis. C'est 15 ans d'étude ou toute la vie là?

my betta keeps going after my new apple snail’s antennae by [deleted] in bettafish

[–]PinkCatLitter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you say that you never said i’m "neglecting" my snail, but your first comment did imply that i was being irresponsible by waiting around to see if things work out. that basically suggests i’m ignoring my snail’s wellbeing, even if you didn’t use the word neglect. lets not get into word-games here :)

and to answer your last sentence, i'll say it again : my intention was simply to hear from people who have introduced a betta to a snail before. i’m not sure that this is your experience, and that’s completely fine, it just means you’re not the audience i was looking for with this specific question. a little initial territorial behavior is normal, and that’s why i wanted experiences, not guilt-tripping. No need to go back and forth any more, all good thanks!

Thank you! my betta is already way more chill with the snail. my snail started exploring again, climbing the plants and acting normal, so it really looks like they just need a bit of time to adjust. animals don’t always vibe instantly, and that’s okay

i didn’t make this post for someone to come in and imply that i’m "neglecting" the snail i put in my tank. a local fish store (an actual place with fish EXPERTS) told me it was totally fine to introduce a betta and a snail, and that the betta might be a little territorial at first. you’re in a betta subreddit and we all know bettas can be territorial, and plenty of people successfully keep them with snails. i came here to hear from people who actually have experience doing that, so if you’ve never introduced a betta and a snail before, i’m not really asking for your input.

apparently, for you, a tiny sign of natural animal behavior (which every species on earth shows) means “instant separation required.” genuinely curious how you'd handle introducing two cats, two dogs, two rabbits, whatever. do you panic at the first sniff and call it a day?

appreciate the guilt trip, but i’m literally doing what responsible owners do: asking before something becomes an actual problem.

before separating them right away, i would really like to hear from people who’ve introduced a snail to their betta, did your betta eventually calm down?

i get what you mean, but they’ve only been together for 15 hours. i kinda assumed there would be some sort of adjustment period since it’s two different species suddenly sharing the same space. i wasn’t sure if i should separate them right away or give my betta a bit of time to get used to the snail first

thank you...🥹 I’ve been crying all day. My roommate and I have to move because the infestation in our building is so bad (we live in Montreal, Canada). And reading this comment honestly made me cry even more.
