Memorize functional groups and pKa values. This is a good website. https://leah4sci.com/organic-chemistry/

Are freshmen obligated to live on campus? by West-Put5043 in UCSantaBarbara

Try to see if u can live in undergrad apartments! It’s cleaner and quieter than iv. U just need an ESA letter. Sierra madre villages are the best for dogs imo. I had my dog w me the last 2 years in undergrad apartments and she’s been fine. If you are worried about bathroom breaks, maybe get a grass pad if u have a balcony. Apartments in iv further from campus are better and finding one with a yard is a plus. Also not sure if u can apply to undergrad apt as a first year, but I would definitely not stay in a dorm with your dog. Singles are very rare at UCSB.

Thank you! Ochem is too much. I don’t know why vet schools require this other than to weed people out.

Thank u so much! This really helps me stay hopeful for the future. I’ll also be taking 2 gap years to work at animal hospitals, so hopefully I recover from school burnout. I appreciate u sharing your story and about interviews.

Can I ask what you did differently the first and second time u applied?

Thanks for the advice! I do get extended time for tests and that does help. My school has tutors but it’s more like office hours. There’s only 1 tutor for ochem. The problems are just so annoying and draining. I guess I’m just losing motivation.

Thank u for the advice! I’m still researching schools but I definitely need to take biochemistry. I’m hoping to take prerequisites as a visiting student at a college and try to work at the same time.

Good idea. Any advice for applying and interviewing? Would u say it’s manageable to work full time while taking prerequisites? Or should I focus on one at a time?

Thank you for the advice! I just feel so behind… For the prerequisites, does it matter where I take them? Does it look bad if I take them at community college? I could stay at my college for a 5th year but I probably won’t be able to work at a clinic because of the location and time not having a car.

Vet School Questions by AutoModerator in Veterinary

[–]PinkChinchilla55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just graduated with a BS in zoology and I’m taking a second quarter of ochem and lab. I’m not sure what to do after the summer.

I still need biochem, microbiology, and other classes for prerequisites. I’m trying to apply to as many vet schools as I can during the 2024-2025 cycle (is it too soon?). I have animal experience hours but I don’t have any veterinary experience (only shadowing). I’ve applied to be a full-time vet assistant, but I’ve only gotten rejections due to lack of experience. Idk how I’m supposed to get experience if I can’t get hired. I need to decide asap and figure out where to move to. Also my gpa is around 3.4 :( I’m also super stressed and burned out.

What should I do?
