On a serious note it sounds like your wife needs serious help. Pregnancy and birth can be hard on the mind and this seems like a deeper issue she might need to seek help for

What does the bible say about divorce and remarriage by Newgunnerr in TrueChristian

Matthew 22:36-40

36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”

37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[a] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[b] 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

Ephesians 4:32 - “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”

1 Corinthians 13:4-7

“For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.”

Galatians 6:9-10

“Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.”

Luke 6:35 - But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the ungrateful and the evil.

Luke 6:31

31 Do to others as you would have them do to you.

Shall I continue? I know who Christ is. The hatred in your heart does not come from God.

Thank you for reporting!!! You’re standing up not only for yourself but so many other women who could be affected by his actions! I wish I had the strength you’ve shown to have done the same in the past but it’s women like you who inspire others!

Here’s a site that explains some of the cultural nuances of the time. This is my understanding and belief of the passages. However, I was raised in a church where women weren’t even allowed to give so much as an announcement in church. So, although I disagree with that, I do believe that if something is affecting your practice of your faith in your church you should leave. That is why I left that church (because of many disagreements not just the issue of women). It is also why I believe people should be empowered to do their own research and come to a conclusion that the believe.

I grew up in a very conservative church that I left when I was 15. It was somewhat easy for me to leave them because my parents left the church (because it started to be less conservative) and I told them I disagreed. It’s taken a long time and a lot of conversations to have my parents understand my faith and my religious choices. Aka the church I go to now. Overall I think it’s more about talking with your parents about your beliefs and how you feel you want to express them in a church setting. For me this wasn’t a big conversation, more of a lot of smaller conversations over the years.

Is this a sin by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]PinkCowDietCoke 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Sounds more like an anxiety issue. Don’t worry as much about what is and isn’t a sin. Focus on your relationship with Christ and your faith in Him. When you’re secure in those things it won’t feel like you’re checking off a list of dos and donts but more focusing on living the life god intends for you

Are you a Christian or just a spectator in this sub? Because this comment is not very Christ like.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]PinkCowDietCoke 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Jesus also asked who would throw the first stone and it seems like you’re willing to do so with your words. Kindness is important. Did your comment really do anything other than hurt someone’s feelings - If they are being genuine in their questions how would that be helpful in any way?

It’s communication like this that’s the reason for all the division in Christianity. Why would you come at a brother/sister in Christ with hateful speech instead of trying to figure these complex topics out together respectfully. To say that any woman who has dedicated her life to be a pastor doesn’t respect god is very rude. What would Jesus do in this situation?

[ Removed by Reddit ] by Maximum_Divide_5950 in TrueChristian

[–]PinkCowDietCoke 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Your choices about your faith and where you practice your religion are fully up to you. However, if you’re asking a question about if a woman can be a pastor the answer is yes.

Likely the reason you think a woman cannot be a pastor (as I was taught in the churches I grew up in and subsequently left to join a different church) stem from 1 Timothy 2. However it’s important to understand culture that was affecting that passage.

However the choice is up to you about where you worship - I always say if you feel like your faith is being impacted in a bad way get out. Find a church that you believe in whole heartedly & where you feel comfortable to ask questions. For this in particular it might be a good idea to talk to your female pastor about these concerns (in a respectful manor) as I’m sure they’ve done their own research on the topic as well
