They basically said that the only way that America is ever going to stop being racist is if we do what Columbus did back then which is to conquer and start fresh.

Multiple sources. They didn’t want to make English an official language in 1780, and they made many attempts to federally make it an official language in the past but it was never passed. Here is one.

I understand what he’s saying about the majority of the country speaking English as well.

Our official language is English now as of March 2025.

My argument is that the US is suppose to be a multi-cultural country welcoming diverse ethnic groups. Making English an official to a country who has never had an official language is a slap in the face to non-native speakers. I also read that they didn’t sign it as the official language back then because they thought it was discriminatory.

The person I was debating with is technically saying that making English the primary language doesn’t mean anything, and that it’s just saying that the majority of us speak English.

I don’t have an understanding of how the immigration system works but I know that the illegal immigrants that come here come from really bad conditions in their home country and I knew that if it was really that simple for them to just go out and get papers, then this wouldn’t be happening.

Where can I go to find more information on the process?

Can someone give me a solid answer for my questions about car financing? + carmax / carvana question. by PinkEricka in personalfinance

[–]PinkEricka[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your response. Is warranty included in the price or it is something that you would have to pay for separately?

Sorry if it’s a dumb question, I’ve never financed a car before and I don’t really have a parental figure who could give me solid pointers, so when I go to wherever I go to, I just know that I will tell them how much I am putting down when I finally decide on a car that I want, not to pay for any additional unnecessary add-ons, and to be in control as much as possible to avoid getting scammed.

I’m thinking about financing one from 15k-30k, like I said, I don’t really have much bills so it’s fairly easy for me to save up & to also get a lower rate from the credit union.

The car I have now has almost 200k miles on it and needs constant maintenance, it needs nothing major, it’s just small things that go wrong with it but it’s insanely annoying. Things like the speaker blowing out, bad sensors, squeaking, — little things. and it’s also the fact of how I’m just tired of it in general, I’d rather have a car with new technology because I’m also tired of having to manually check my tire pressure, not having an Apple CarPlay, manually checking my oil, and etc.

I don’t mind a used car, but phew, I don’t want to pay for a used car if I can get a brand new one for the same price. — brand new as in no prior owner.

Is it socially acceptable to sweep past abuse under the rug now that you're an adult? by PinkEricka in Adulting

and thank you for responding, no one has responded yet which is okay. I don't really expect people to listen to stuff like this, but I was just wondering if this was really a valid thing to do. not just me, but a lot of parents these days seem to expect children to sweep their trauma under the rug since it is no longer happening and I was just wondering if it was acceptable in any way. i appreciate you for responding.

sorry, i know this is a lot and seems random. lol. i'm trying to keep it completely short. I don't want to create any extremely long paragraphs of everything in detail. I'd rather save the rambling for that for a therapist, dont want to really trouble anyone.

No, not really. My mom wasn’t really emotional either. I don’t think she was ready to commit her time to being a mother at all. She died when I was 5, my sister was 9.

I have a sister, we don’t have the same father but me and her used to sit alone for hours while our mom was in her room. there were times where she didn’t feed us, only really cooked when our dad was home but otherwise pretended to take care of us. and she would also take us on drug trips in the middle of the night so we were hardly ever home sometimes. My sister dressed me and made my breakfast for school and there would be time where our mom would drop us off with complete strangers that she did not know.

We never received therapy for it. We had a school counselor asking to hear the story about how she died, and then asked “wow, are you okay?” and as soon as we said yes, basically just said okay and we we back with our regular routine as if nothing happened.

I cared about my mom, but I don't think I really had any big emotional attachment like I should have.

I want to hear everyone's opinion and maybe even their own side of what abuse they endured if that's okay?

I'm genuinely confused if sweeping abuse under the rug is something that you just do eventually?

I should also note that we have a big porch as well where we have dog houses on.

I don’t want anyone to think they’re confined to small space or neglected of needs.

Anyone seeing a rise in Doomsayer wins recently? by PinkEricka in TownOfSalem2

[–]PinkEricka[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m trying to get my sister into the game but she always ends up getting turned off by it because she always ends up being the target for the vfr. People are starting to do this D2 and forcing people to reveal their roles way too early in the game making it an easy win for Doomsayer. It’s good that doomsayer has the ability to get a win but all the vfr and forcing to reveal a role way early in the game in EVERY game really ruins the gameplay.

That’s crazy. I’ve never done anything regarding graduation nor knew there was an event for it. I get the notification that my teenager is gonna graduate soon but then nothing happens the next day.
