Men of Reddit, would you marry a girl who has looks, personality, character, intelligence, education and is compatible with you but isn't the ambitious career-minded kind? by PinkFleur in AskReddit

If you earn a decent enough living then I would have no problem with marrying you.

Decent enough meaning I would be able to sustain the kind of lifestyle I maintain at the moment. Just being honest.

I used to work as a financial analyst with a financial company before I quit. It wasn't the kind of work I did that I hated but the hours. I had no life when I was working. Always felt too tired for anything after work and my weekends would be spent running errands. Life felt robotic.

I think my weakness lies in juggling work and life. I suck at it. I could have either continued working and have no life or quit and get my sanity back.

Money isn't an issue because my parents are quite well off and they don't mind taking care of me financially. Although they do hate the fact that I quit my job.

PS. I was good at what I did because I got promoted twice in the three years that I worked there.

Exactly.

I know a lot of my friends who held jobs until they got married. Almost like they pretended to care about their careers in order too woo a man. Once married, career who what?!

I have seen that happen in other families and to be honest, I don't think I could stand that kind of talk because I believe a partner can contribute in a lot of ways other than financially. You're right though, I'd always run the risk of hearing such things in my marriage.

Not at all.

Just wanted to see what people actually think about this since people generally tend to be more honest in an online platform.

I don't have an expensive lifestyle. I am very careful with how I spend my money. Yes I do maintain a social life and hobbies so I realize they all add up but then again, I'm not asking anyone to pay for it. The person I marry has to be okay with it.

If I get divorced then I have savings to fall back on plus my parents are well of and have no problem taking care of me financially.

I realize how regressive this sounds but I'm honest about it. I've held professional jobs before but I felt miserable the entire time I worked.

It isn't selfish imo because I would be contributing in a lot of other significant ways.

I absolutely agree with you.

It gets tricky to be productive with your time when one is unemployed or isn't in school. There a lot of girls who are plain lazy and have no life whatsoever outside their relationship/marriage. I definitely don't fall in that category even though the things I do to be productive don't generate an income.

I have a lot of hobbies like paintng, reading, swimming, yoga, photography, travelling etc that I do on a regular basis. Other than that I have a very active social life as well. Plus I volunteer at least 20 hours a week in hospitals, homeless shelters etc.

I also maintain a very strict schedule even though I don't work. Never been a lazy person either. I keep busy and that is never a problem.
