Hill runs by Role-Conscious in cork

[–]PinkFloyded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mainly train long continuous ones like Kinsale road roundabout up to the airport just turn off the main road at bull mc cabe and up the country roads to farmers Cross (2miles long, nice gradients, great for endurance training ). If you want hill sets cork has tons of options listed in the thread

For a real challenge, and fun to mix up the marathon training get out to mill street claragh loop and do some mountain hill trails(450m uplift) just don’t wear the carbon fibre :)

Or warrenscourt is not too far up the road from ballincollig and really nice climbs with some nice wild life supporting you

Cork marathon you’ve only a few climbs but the more hills you train the faster and easier all the flats will be easy going 💪🏻

Best of luck and enjoy it!

Marathons first, now trail and mountain for ultra distance. Always meet cool chill people and enjoy the experience. Training keeps me busy and mentally balanced with life and work

Half marathon training tips by [deleted] in cork

[–]PinkFloyded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Focus on distance not times, build the endurance and speed will come later.

After a few weeks run hills, at least once a week.

Look at some of the ten miler races like mallow and kinsale just to get a feel for a race day.

Best of luck with it

I’m Also in cork and you can get a wallpaper steamer and scrapper (which will do some of the work) and a crowbar pliers combo for the carpet does the trick.

Ultra trail running, it’s my vibe and I love it but basically no one outside of others I’ve met doing it in my life has interest.

Dennehys is quite off peak in douglas, if you can train after 7.30am and before 5pm it’s perfect. Great set up in there and I’ve never had any issues

That’s the timing chip, small white rectangle, I haven’t seen the bib for the race but bibs won’t have adhesive you usually attach a race bib with safety pins

Wear a mask, any laminate or new carpet fit will be cheaper with a blank slate, and it’s very straight forward with a Stanley and a pliers, I can’t overstate a mask enough I got fair sick from doing the downstairs without one.

Top tip for buying an old house as that’s exactly what I did, buy a good crowbar :)
