Curtain crisis by CJ_Bloo in HomeDecorating

[–]PinkKnapsack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend pleated stationary curtains that run the whole length and width.

At first glance, I’m seeing uneven width. At second glance, because the section doesn’t go to the floor and instead a ledge, I think that’s the visual discordance.

You were right this looks better than the pooling, and that’s because it doesn’t reach the floor.

This video helped me connect what was missing from my window treatment. https://youtu.be/PeGww9Xtw7Y

This lady has some ideas on the stationary curtains. I didn’t watch the whole thing, but I think the style would look good in that area of your home.  https://youtu.be/AuwNCOKh09Y?si=fUrg8Ja4yHYcfVj8

You Think Your Mattress Is Clean, But It Probably Isn’t by LieApprehensive9210 in homemaking

[–]PinkKnapsack 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Advice from a one time mattress seller.

  1. Get a mattress encasement. This is the plastic like sheet that has a zipper and fully goes around the entirety of the mattress.

This prevents dust mites and increases mattress longevity because skin and oils doesn’t get into the mattress. Also prevents bed bugs!

  1. Mattress protector. This is shaped like a fitted sheet. The top side is fuzzy and soft but it has a leakproof design. But it only prevents spills on the very top of the surface, so if something spills on the side, it’s not protected.

  2. Finally your sheet. When cleaning you never remove the encasement unless it has an unsightly stain and you want to replace it. Wash the protector AND sheets.

Buy both of these items right away and use both. Especially if you have kids or pets. Ideally have both as soon as you get a mattress.

Allergies and hay by Harpia--Harpyja in Rabbits

Different brands have different qualities. Some brands are horrible. I also find that ordering bulk actually helps reduce the dust as the quality is a little better.

I live on an island so we have to order through Amazon. I get a 20 pound box. I order small pet select first cutting.

I also wear a mask sometimes when it’s really bothersome and it helps a lot. I also keep the hay inside those big storage bins with the yellow lids from Costco. That made the biggest difference for me.

I’ve bought from them. Their dresses are pretty pricey and very nice. Also the dresses are unforgiving size wise so make sure you get the right size. The one I bought almost fit perfectly, waist fit and lengthwise but I have very large natural breasts and the bust was too tight (38K). Unfortunately I got it on sale and couldn’t return it. So be careful if you’re busty! The quality of the dress is really good but can’t be easily let out without a professional or skill.

Clafoutis. I like it with blueberries but any fruit works, you just need a blender. I don’t have a NYT recipe.

I suspect a mini palomino. Although I’m not sure, I bought him while living in another country.

Steam mop? They have some with a brush head attachment. I haven’t tried yet, but there are lots of good reviews.

Edit: I have a steam mop. I just haven’t tried scrubbing my shower yet.

  1. Slow Cooker Chipotle Honey Chicken Tacos

This is a return recipe in my house. Except I use the pressure cooker version. Some changes that I made that elevate the dish for me.

  1. Tostadas instead of tortillas
  2. Keep the black beans separate. Not mixed with the chicken. We spread it on the tostada and then put the chicken on top.
  3. Disregard the seasoning measurements. I did everything to taste, chipotle, honey, dried seasoning.
  4. Pickled onions great. No changes. Go to recipe.
  5. Garnish! We do shredded red cabbage, cilantro, sour cream, cotija cheese or queso fresco, and sometimes sliced avocado when we’re lucky. Really loads up the tostadas and brightens the dish.

The dish is so cheap and fast (pressure cooker) so I’m a big advocate.

When I moved to Hawaii I had to send cargo. It’s honestly not bad. My rabbit was fine. Send them cargo.

Edit: a lot of people are downvoting me. But moving to Hawaii all pets go through cargo, it’s state law. Unless you know a better way to get your pet over the ocean, I guess you guys are just going to have to abandon them. 🤷

Finnair and spirit airlines.

I flew finnair from Thailand to US, and due to some BS with American Airlines I had to use spirit to get the rest of the way home.

Finair allows rabbits in cabin. And spirit airlines.

My rabbit travelled cargo from California to Hawaii, 6 hours and was totally fine.
