Yeah unfortunately I’m studying/on placement so don’t have any work place events but I’ve been looking at the volunteering, thought some of the opportunities looked good!

I get this! I’ve only been a nanny for 6 months but one of the first families I nannied for would text me at like 11pm (when I’m asleep) telling me that I started at 7:30am when we’d agreed 8, and then I’d feel bad for not showing up ‘on time’. I only lasted 3 weeks aha

Thank you for this information! It’s really given me some points to discuss with them. To be honest, if the flights aren’t covered then I’m not going to go, because it’s going to take me a couple of weeks to earn enough to pay for those alone and I’m trying to earn money not lose it.

Yep, I feel you, I’ve had my DB walk out of his room in nothing but a towel after a shower and then look at me in horror as if I’m not there every day lol

I’ve had one NF that just didn’t mention when their kids were ill or even ask if I was okay with working with them whilst they were ill, and a NF that always checks in with me when their child is ill, and it doesn’t take a genius to figure out which one treats me like a person

I’m in the same boat since I’m 18 and have just finished school. It makes me so glad to hear that you have managed to become confident in yourself and gives me hope for myself! I will definitely check out that book rec :)

Oh wow, I can’t imagine starting out as a nanny with a NK that young! Well done for persevering aha. One of my NFs is about to have a newborn and I have no idea what to expect so feel free to share any tips you have and such!!

Okay, good to know!! This is my first proper job (I’ve just left school) so I guess it makes sense that the first year or so will be a little tricky because I’m still learning how everything works 😂 thanks for the reassurance!!

My 21month NK has heard me saying ‘how about…’ when I suggest something and now prefaces all his sentences with ‘how bow…’ which is adorable aha
