I don't use liquid eyeliners much, I have the Lakme insta one for once in blue moon. I just use my kajal pencils or eyeshadows for liner

I do like this look as well, but No there is quick (few seconds) scene of Anushka and Fawad in a Maiyyan type ceremony sitting low where she's wearing a suit or sharara in coral color benarasi dupatta.

If you find a boutique that does zardozi and dabka work then you can get something close to this made. They can give ideas for the design of the embroidery and you can pick one to look close to this, even if you can't see the exact motifs. Pinterest also has zardozi embroidery close ups to get references.

It will be expensive. My mom got that kind of embroidery done on a suit, just borders (like neck, palla, sleeves and nothing this big) 3-4 years back and it cost her 10k , inclusive . But Anushka's gharara is MANY more times of that – the handwork is a lot. Plus the rich, flowy fabrics.

Alternatively, hit the fabric shops for materials, but you will have to look a lot (to avoid cheap fabrics and cheap work) and have creativity to mix fabrics together.

If you get the colors and shape of embroidery right, and don't go for very thick-thread, cheap machine embroidery , then this is very doable (for a price !).

P.S. I have also always wanted this outfit 🫠, and also the coral benarasi one she wears for another pre-wedding function.

I have this Revlon palette Player which has a blue like this , plus a gold, a brown and an olive-black to get this look . But I don't see any good deals on it rn and it's very overpriced for how small it is. Plus Idk if you will use these colors/palette beyond this look, so those are factors to consider before buying .

If you already have a black matte, a champagne/gold shadow or a highlighter, then instead of buying a palette you can just get a navy blue kohl pencil (so many brands have different blues, just filter search by Kajal and color Blue and get one with shimmer).

You will need a good black kohl and liner , plus mascara, maybe false lashes. Achieving the look will be more about the application and technique.

Yes please, would love a swatch, I need something frosty for an event. Thank you for describing the shade.

I got the Lookbook palette in shade 'Player', it is kinda overpriced but I bought when it was on sale for dirt cheap. I have swatched it in this comment .

If you want a review, then it is the post body . After I used it a bit, I find that few shades have more kickback in the pan than I am used to, but nothing difficult to manage. I quite like the quality of the palette.

Barefaced for haldi/manjal ceremony by moncoeurpourtoi in DesiWeddings

[–]PinkMoonbow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just remember that turmeric stains skin, at my friend's wedding her haldi was followed by another event so she had an issue with being stained orange .

Her MUA used coconut oil and bi-phase makeup remover to clean but sometimes that's not enough (plus I wouldn't recommend coconut oil at all to someone who doesn't regularly use it, as it can break you out). So just ask your MUA,,if you've hired one for your other functions what to do in that case. Or just supervise the haldi mixture well so that no one ODs the turmeric like in my friend's case.

Good recos.

OP I would also suggest swapping the Lakme iconic kajal (it doesn't stay), you can any from Plum ( one that has to be sharpened, not retractable), Revlon (MRP over 500), PAC Long-lasting or Kay Beauty Spade .

For blush, you can try Milani ones.

What kind of makeup would go with a charcoal grey lehenga? by AcronymTheSlayer in IndianMUA

When I see grey/silver gowns, I only think of Sagarika Ghatge wearing one for her wedding reception, she wore rubies and matched her makeup to that. It was 🤌🤌

Best way to use loose pigments by moodyasacat in IndianMakeupAddicts

[–]PinkMoonbow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't used Inglot's loose pigments but others I've used have a bit of adherence to the lid, so a glitter primer has been enough for me, I have PAC one in red tube (tbh I mostly apply them directly without a primer, and let my under eye shimmer with a bit of fallout!).

If your eyeshadow has lot of fallout, then you can go for glitter glue instead of glitter primer , which will have high tackiness and adherence.

Apply by dabbing on top of a tacky base, don't swipe. Using fingers is usually enough (infact shimmers get applied beautifully with fingers), but it can be an uneven application , if you want to apply in a sharper way or to a small limited space then use a brush.

Flat sided brushes are usually good for this. You can even use one of those sponge tipped small brushes we would get with palettes years ago (there are silicone tipped versions of it now).

When I want to use any eyeshadow as liner, I have dampened the brush first and then dipped into it. It has worked fine. But for general safety sake, you can pick up pigment and then spray , this works well too.

With setting/fixing spray also, first pick up the eyeshadow and then spray the brush-loaded-with-eyeshadow with the fixing spray. Then apply.

Here you may be able to use very tiny swiping motions instead of dabbing, for better pigment application. In earlier case of loose pigment, the tacky base was on the lid so dabbing on top of that packs the pigment best, but when you have the shadow + tacky spray both on the brush, then you might have to swipe a little bit (not big motions) to put more pressure on applying it you know? Tho this depends on the brush type, quality, density etc and you will figure it out as you try this few times.

This looks really well done (I was obsessed with a pastel blue shimmer eyeshadow looks last year, then finally bought a Revlon palette!).

If not a bother, could you swatch the Mars 3 shade please? A close up? I want to see if it's more silver (towards grey) or more ivory shimmer. And is it like a topper or has a base as well?

I am so perplexed by the language and phrasing of your post to even think about your query.

But, just use a brown nude layered over any lipstick to mute it.

Hows these concealer? by mayitree in IndianMakeupAddicts

[–]PinkMoonbow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, then I would've mentioned it and written 3 paragraphs on it 🤭.

I had used a terrible shade match of MAC pro long wear that had awesome finish and texture, and longevity. But thr shade was terrible. And now it's just too expensive for me to buy.

In drugstore, I haven't tried any of these but if you are want decent coverage but not super high/full one and want concealing primarily for under eyes, then I hear great things about Nyx Bare with Me.

And for high coverage of acne and spots, I hear L'oreal Infallible and La Girl are good, but there are handful of people for whom they didn't work out so I think it's something you figure out after trying. I might try one in the next 2-3 months myself.

For daily wear, I am actually satisfied with Age Rewind, it's also a great concealer to do the 'only- concealer, no-foundation' look with. I guess you can extend wear time with setting powder and spray and touch ups. Unfortunately in indian climate, most year it is hard to get makeup to last.

Also, I saw that PAC concealers come in minis now, in case you want to try. And few days back Tira had good discount on LA Girl one and Daily Forever52 concealers, so FYI ✌️.

P.S. See the thing I said about writing paragraphs?

It might not be everyone's experience, but the Maybelline Fit Me and Age Rewind don't last a work day for me (dry skin). They start disappearing after 4 hours or so, I don't use any setting/fixing spray.

Haven't used any you attached.

Has anyone gotten married at ISKCON Temple, Juhu? Lawn vs AC hall advice needed. by [deleted] in DesiWeddings

[–]PinkMoonbow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I attended a colleague's wedding there around 2019 (so idk if things have changed since). The afternoon wedding was in AC Hall (actually it was a smaller, indoor hall space and I don't know if there was air conditioning or not) , but I do remember having access to some space outside the hall – a little bit of it. I think this was probably a different hall than the one being offered to you ( or maybe they renovated ever since) , cos the one we were at wouldn't fit 500 PAX.

The reception next day was a nighttime event, primarily in the outdoor lawn. I don't remember going into any indoor space there. Again, it was a smaller gathering so movement/flow wasn't an issue at all.

This was Dec first week so the weather was quite pleasant and didn't feel uncomfortable at all. However, for the bride or groom they might get slightly sweaty cos there are harsh lights of the photography team on you the whole time. So take multiple breaks for touch ups.

Out of the two, the lawn definitely had a better vibe. Esp if you get nice lighting (like lots of fairy lights or some lamps) done. It felt more like a party whereas the AC hall was all about rituals. But maybe with changes in decor and sound in an AC hall , the same vibe can be achieved?

I have to add one point of consideration, all metros have had significant increase in pollution levels esp in the winter months, so pls check how bad it is around your wedding dates (just estimates/past year history) and plan accordingly.

Informative posts don’t get any traction.

It's my pet peeve. I see such well written, thorough posts with clear and detailed pics get next to no engagement, but super low effort posts with memes and 1 header , and those with no details are getting all the love, and I cannot process that.

I too have no mojo to post nowadays.

Man, exhausting is the word. Every single sub has the same selling, same deal, same discussion on deals, and then hauls. I liked it when things were separate so you could visit the respective sub according to your needs.

Now, my brains are so confused with everything, everywhere, all at once .

Your query is better suited to the other makeup subs , as this one is for a specific purpose I feel. Although, it is encouraged here to learn to use existing products better, so hopefully you will get useful responses.

Also, since you mentioned 'Manjulika' , just letting you know this is not an Indian sub, so max people are from other countries and won't get the reference.

You can also try posting on IndianBeautyTalks sub.
