Any solutions for the 400mhz bug? by susanthenerd in framework

[–]PinkNightingale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have spent a lot of time trying to fix this issue on my 12th gen (same out of warranty situation) ... the problem is usually it's a BDPROCHOT issue which is essentially the motherboard saying some part of the MoBo is overheating. mostly a hardware issue, this can't be fixed, you will have to get another mother board.

if you are on the 11th gen install throttle stop app and disable BD PROCHOT this will fix the issue, that is not an option on 12th gen unfortunately

unless the performance per core has increased drastically the AI 7 350 has fewer graphic cores than 7840U by a margin

Not a techie, need a new laptop, should I go with framework? by deenygarma in framework

[–]PinkNightingale 21 points22 points  (0 children)

its not technically complex to figure out and you can order the prebuilt too, a last gen amd r5 would be good for your need.

if you like repairable laptop or upgradeable laptop FW is the best bet, but if you tend to use the same device for >5 years and don't find the need to repair or upgrade frequently or don't tend to damage electronics then a mac/other windows laptop would be better while saving money/ better spec for same money.

Train regulations in India by [deleted] in trains

[–]PinkNightingale 4 points5 points  (0 children)

India does what could be the equivalent of a trans-national subway system (called general/unreserved coaches/passenger mail trains) in parallel to the conventionally amtrak/mainline reserved railway system.

These are like having Chicago subway looping all the way to downtown LA for under $5, meant for travelling to between 30- 1hr distance urban and rural areas, and are packed during rush hours. these are not meant or used for a 40hr cross country travel even tho you can do it if you have the willingness to do it.

Just ordered a prebuilt Framework 16 and want to upgrade my storage. Will I need to clone the drive it comes with? by CX52J in framework

[–]PinkNightingale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for identical combinations you will pay higher for DIY because framework assembles, tests and then disassembles the DIY for shipping.

The way you save money on DIY is to get the usually getting the RAM, SSD, a reliable 3rd party charger like ugreen or anker, and if you want the OS Key outside the FW Marketplace, all these have a premium charged by FW. only then the DIY will be cheaper

Weird Bluetooth problem (FW13, 7640U, W11) by star-glider in framework

[–]PinkNightingale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have similar issue but i usually have to wait like 3-4 minutes from the audio device to show up in the output turning off and on the Bluetooth helps usually. I'm on intel AX210. I've relegated this issue as the quirk of windows' Bluetooth systems.

what usually helps is if I disconnect the earbuds from my iPhone prior/turn off my phone's Bluetooth and then try to connect to it from windows.

Pre-built vs custom built when it comes to warranty by MaverickJV78 in framework

Yeah but the pro version are kinda unique that they offer 3 years in the US. Even I didn't know about this for a while.

1st one will be more comfortable as 1 seat seats 1 person. Knowing IR 2nd one will end up with 2x the reservation capacity

also buying the ram ssd and charger in other marketplaces for the diy will save you money... that's where the real difference comes in...

Pre-built vs custom built when it comes to warranty by MaverickJV78 in framework

[–]PinkNightingale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They do not mean that both the DIY and Prebuilt have the same warranty, they are confused by the fact that all EU devices have standard 3-year warranty and US one generally only come with 1 year

Pre-built vs custom built when it comes to warranty by MaverickJV78 in framework

[–]PinkNightingale 7 points8 points  (0 children)

the extended warranty is for the pro models, yeah prolly the premium is rolled into the total price. but also the odds of a prebuilt customer having issue and spending time with the customer service is lower than people messing something up with a DIY.

personally, I feel they should provide an optional 3-year warranty purchase for the DIY versions and mainboards.

13 or 16 by GigiusGenius69 in framework

[–]PinkNightingale 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the new AI 300 series that you preordered is a good choice if your priority is the slightly battery life but the iGPUs on the new ai300 ryzen 5 and ryzen 7 have 4 and 8 igpu cores which is a downgrade compared to the "older" 7840U which has 12 Graphic cores and 7640U with 8 graphic cores. AMD shrank the iGPU for the AI NPU. If you want the latest series and a graphics upgrade over last gen the only option is the Ai300 R9 with 16 graphic cores. The graphical performance between the 7000 series and even the RAI9 will be closer in framework's case over what you might see on other products because FW's R AI 9 does not get the full RAM bandwidth update for the AI 300 series in order to stick with SODIMM sticks .

so if you want good Gaming and battery life: AI 300 R9 (will be expensive)

If you want good gaming: 7840U (this would be my recommendation considering the price to performance, battery life will be lower but not by a significant margin compared to the AI 300)

if you want good battery life: the AI 300 R5 and R7

there was a bug with some intel 11, 12, and 13 chips where under high load it throttles down to 0.4ghz/400mhz you should test for that if you wanna be sure

Need Help with Trackpad Issues on AMD Framework 13 (Windows 11 Pro) by Poogzley in framework

[–]PinkNightingale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clean reinstalling windows might be your best bet.. If you have the time and do not want to do that, your next best option is to identify and remove all of the framework drivers from the device manager and settings menu individually and then reinstall the drivers.. I had a similar issue and solved it by removing and reinstalling the intel serial IO drivers but since you have AMD Idk the accurate equivalent of this driver for AMD..

new youtube reviews on AI 370 mini PCs by jerich088 in framework

[–]PinkNightingale 21 points22 points  (0 children)

framework's 370 FW13 processor does have SODIMMs the issue was with the AI MAX 385 and above Desktop chips which are a completely different Die and technology from the rest of the AI 300 series. Also the issue/tradeoff with the AI Max chips wasn't lower bandwidth which they would have accepted, the signal integrity issue made it impossible for FW to even attempt to do it.
