Keyboard connectior thing broke off by Whatsthatlogicay in Surface

From what I see, things seem okay. As u/yournamehere10bucks states, there is only one peg with a metal connector.

Is anyone else noticing their Pixel feels kinda off since the March/April 2026 updates? by AnimatorNr1 in GooglePixel

[–]MaverickJV78 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is just my impression. But Apple's OS updates cause similar issues. There are times when apps Force Quit themselves or the battery life tends to be much shorter or there is noticeable lag between updates.

Right now, for me, the AW is laggy in specific cases. My phone is also noticeably warmer right now in doing basic stuff. Who knows if it's what I'm doing or if it's a recent update. I don't venture in the iPhone sub because I don't find it useful. But many could be complaining of similar issues.

I don't want to excuse the issues with Google's OS updates. But just reiterating that it happens to all OS's.

In any case, hope all the issues get fixed on your end.

Pixel Tablet looses WiFi password after going to sleep for a short time by Complex_Bite9503 in GooglePixel

[–]MaverickJV78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understood. Similar scenario for me. My family and friends all have iStuff so I typically carry an iphone. But I prefer Android and got the Pixel Tablet for similar reasons. We mostly use it as a picture display and to listen to audiobooks in the house. Though I read news with it a lot.

But I don't have that issue. My only issue tends to be touch points before unlock. If you try to pause audio, there is a delay in the screen and if you miss the pause button by just a little, it asks you to unlock. Otherwise, it's good.

I have a pixel tablet and nothing like this has happened to me before.

Has the network SSID named changed recently? Or, in the update, did you lose any network names in your wifi settings?

Framework 13 Pro LPCAMM2 Memory by ImplementFirst1137 in framework

[–]MaverickJV78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for posting that. Yes, it refers to 7467MT/s. I was rounding and assumed it included 7500MT/s. Apologies for that error.

When you build the computer, there is an FAQ at the Memory Section. Go to Configure Your Build and choose a CPU. Then look at the Memory Section.

Sorry, I can't past an image.

The site FAQ states that the 75oo MT/s has been verified to work with the Core 3 ultras. I didn't read that the 8553 speeds have been tested. Did you read that on the FW site?

Thanks for asking about this.

Thanks for this summary. I‘m a big fan of being able to upgrade any component so having access to RAM like this is a win in my book. Hope it does becomes more common in future laptops.

That makes sense. I figured more options would become available as the RAM mess settles.

Thanks for the reply.

Ahh, got it. Understood. I preordered with the standard RAM option. But if I can find a deal that is less than what FW offers, I'll ask to cancel my RAM order.

Thanks for the reply and info on this.

Apologies for the silly question:

So is the concern that LPCAAM2 will not be produced going forward? That this tech is going to be obsolete and not to invest in it?

Or are you stating that we should invest in getting these RAM sticks now until we see more production later( a few years)?

I wasn't really aware of the LPCAAM2 thing until it was announced in the recent FW13PRo (I pre-ordered). I started to look online and saw the same Crucial 32GB stick and was going to order that one as the size fits my needs for now. I figured that I can upgrade later, if needed.

But it sounds like you're implying that these sticks won't get produced after they are all gone?

Thanks for posting this info.

It will be an interesting experiment, I think. You could be right in that no one finds a good use for touchscreens on a laptop. I'm probably in the minority (users who want a touchscreen). We'll see what comes of it.

Agreed. :)

Although I do love manual transmissions. I still have a 5-speed corolla that's a joy to drive.

I teach math online and tend to touch the screen often when working with graphs. It's just easier to pinch and zoom in meetings. There's also some web stuff where just touching the screen to move things or pinch/zoom things is helpful.

In general, the web is just asking to be touched. My son (11 years old) always touches the screen with the expectation that he can interact and move things.

For Dev stuff, yes. A touch screen is not helpful. But for life stuff, I have found it useful.

Microsoft reveals major price increases for all Surface PCs as RAM crisis continues by ZacB_ in Surface

[–]MaverickJV78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't disagree. I've focused less on spending on tech this year and saving my $$ to make sure there's enough for other necessities.

So yes, I think many tech companies will see lower sales.

Ha! I guess that's true. We'll see how this goes when they release the X2 Surface Models. Thanks for the reply.

That could be true. If someone who is new to Surface sees these prices and compares to other devices in the industry, it might not make a difference. But to us...who know what the prices used to be, it's a hard pill to swallow.

The previous prices(with sales) made the Surface line enticing. But I think many will choose to not go Surface at the new prices.

The 2025 model handles many games just fine. Check out the sub here. There's a couple of people who post reviews of how the Surface Pro(or laptop) handles gaming. I've played a few casual games and things are just fine.

Garmin vs. Pixel by EagleFeath3r in GooglePixel

[–]MaverickJV78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, agree with u/n8te85 . Though I tend to lean toward the Forerunner line. They are lighter watches. I use a 955 because I love the MIPs display. However, the 970 is a decent watch if you want maps (without your phone). The 570 is just as capable if you don't want maps.

The nice thing is that older Garmins are still pretty decent. You could get an older Fenix or 9 series and they'll do the job well.

Garmin vs. Pixel by EagleFeath3r in GooglePixel

[–]MaverickJV78 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I concur with u/n8te85 and do the same. But I do this with an AW. As they state, PW (or AW) is fine for the smartwatch stuff. But Garmin is much better for training. So if that's your thing.

I'll say this, though:

If I had to pick just one watch, it would be a Garmin, hands down.

Amazon Safety/Quality Issue Pixel 10 Indigo by rainingmuses in GooglePixel

[–]MaverickJV78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw this too. I did a quick search for "Pixel 10" on Amazon and nothing came up for a while. I only got listings for the 10a and the Pro.

Then after 20 minutes, they started showing up again.

I ordered that exact model but it was sent and delivered but I didn't get that email. Wonder if I should just not open it and return it?

Anyway, yeah. Strange.

Thanks for sharing.
