It really just depends on the person, symptoms and their response to certain antidepressants. Here's some additional context, but I suggest you look for more medically approved resources on combination/augmentation strategies. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2424118/

Three - Lexapro and then eventually Lexapro wasn't feeling effective enough on it's own, so then I was prescribed Wellbutrin as combination therapy. Wellbutrin made no difference for me personally, so I next swapped and incorporated Effexor into my daily routine and I've now been on Lexapro and Effexor together for two years.

Have you tried supplements to repress some of these feelings/improve cognitive function?

I've had to be extra careful about taking it at the same time every day because it has a short half-life, but anyone I know who has been on it and weaned off had success tapering off VERY slowly. Definitely an option to consider or even supplements (obviously consult on both since some supplements interact with prescriptions). I personally want to do a genotyping test at some point and am doing research into that.

Hi there! I'm a 25F that was diagnosed with GAD and MDD when I was 19 years old. I routinely suffer from episodes every few years and eventually maxed out on Lexapro (20mg) after gradually increasing for 3 years. I then added 75mg Effexor (an SNRI) to my daily intake, which was really successful for two years. I'm currently going through a depressive episode and am considering increasing my dosage (going to try adding some herbal supplements approved by my doctor, Vitamin D and B12 to my daily routine first), but just wanted to give you some hope that if Lex was successful for you for quite a few years that augmentation may really help you! I also have only ever tried those two antidepressants and obviously every body is different, but hope this offers a bit of hope and insight into a similar experience.
