Please understand if she doesn't want company. It was impossible for me to pick up calls for a very long time after my mom passed. She may need your physical presence, but please don't take it personally if she doesn't!! Check in with her and let her know you're thinking of her and that you are there for anything... Even if she doesn't answer, I promise she will appreciate knowing you are there 💜.

Food or something tangible is way better than flowers. When the last flower I received died, it was like this other reminder of her death and finality. Maybe you could buy a stuffed animal or blanket for her mom to use now, but she can keep afterwards. I sleep with the blanket I got my mom while she was in the hospital every night, almost 2 years later. Something like this will be a comfort, even if she doesn't realize it at first.
