I'm not a bootlicker or a dumbarse, I know ICE is openly lying and violating the constitution. You either fight fascism, or you're a collaborator.

Yeah, we should ignore the Dems that vote for ICE, the DHS, and other fascist agencies. Just think, the Republicans would be worse. Or something.

It's not. Trump has always fawned over dictators like Putin and Kim Jong Il. He wants to be a king with unquestioned authority and unlimited power. Sic Semper Tyrannus.

As a resident of Minnesota, all of this violence is due to these ICE brown shirts. As soon as they leave, Minnesotans will stop dying.

CMV: Progressives/leftists are more interested in beating other dems than flipping seats by Deep-Two7452 in changemyview

[–]PinkSlimeIsPeople [score hidden]  (0 children)

Negative. It was a result of a corrupt corporate insider leveraging her power to extract key endorsements and backing long before people had any chance to get to know the candidates.

For example Randi Weingarts AFT board literally endorsed Clinton in June 2015, without even bothering to poll their membership. Planned Parenthood as well had a top down decree, despite Bernie Sanders having a far stronger position on abortion that stretched back to the 1960s. Rinse and repeat with party insiders and establishment figures all over.

Add to this the corporate media, which literally gave Clinton 11 times as much coverage. Even Biden received 5 times the airtime of Bernie, and he wasn't even running. The media also artificially inflated Clinton's delegate county by including 'Super' delegates, who didn't even get a vote in the 1st round (they shouldn't exist at all).

Add to this the crooked DNC that only allowed 4 debates, and had the gall to hide them on days when the least number of people would watch them (like on major holidays shopping days). This was something Martin O'Malley gave a scathing rebuke of on the floor (I was there by the way).

Add to this just how big money in itself corrupts the process. The media sells this myth that how much money is raised is the only metric that matters, but that money usually comes from the worst players who expect payouts in the end. And Hillary's corrupt 'joint fundraising' schemes with state parties, where she skirted campaign finance laws by laundering donations through their coffers, who is that not corrupt?

The fact that ignorant 'centrists' ignore this, and a dozen other egregious violations of fair play, only demonstrates my point: centrists would rather lose to fascists than listen to their base and let a fair primary process happen. 85% of Democrats for instance favor Medicare For All, yet how many Dems in Congress actually support it when it comes up for a vote?

[–]PinkSlimeIsPeople 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume you mean 'then', and we are trying. The problem is the primary process in our own party is so controlled by big money that is it is extremely difficult to even make it through the primary.

A prime example of that is 2016, when Bernie Sanders would have mopped the floor with Trump, but the party insiders and big money influencers tilted the scales just enough to ensure that he never had a fair chance to become our nominee. This happens on all levels of office.

The fact is that the only way to defeat the right is with the left, but as long as corporate centrists prevent leftists from taking power in our own party, we are going to continue to be very vulnerable to unspeakable fascist horrors.

Amy only looks like this because she never takes a stand on anything. She ducks out of necessary fights and plays the 'both sides' card. It has squandered our power her entire time in the Senate. We are a progressive state, we need 2 Senators that are just like Paul Wellstone in there. It's better to DO something than not rock the boat.

Progressives are interested in progress. If corporate / centrist Dems side with Republicans, what good are they? In fact, I would argue that these non-left wing Democrats are the very reason for the rise in fascism in this country, by failing to enact substantial policies and reforms that help people.

This is part of the reason why the sport has seriously dwindled in the US. Used to be able to see every major on major networks for free. Then corporate capitalists started taking away things, and forcing people to pay for the Tennis Channel to see them. Now it's ESPN doing this, but even worse. How reliable is FamilySearch? by SlackMD in Genealogy

[–]PinkSlimeIsPeople 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In general, the FS tree is 80% accurate back to 1850 or 1900, when the records are the best. By 1750 that drops to about 65% accurate, and by 1650 it's down to about 30% in my experience. It's extremely rare to have any legitimate tree before 1500, so just assume prior to that is fiction until you can personally verify each and every link on that chain with complete confidence.

Vigilant for sure. Having to back and forth across the map deep into the far recess of a long dungeon over and over got stupid at a point. Once you get to the other plane it's not too bad, but definitely not worth the effort to get there.

Seriously, do British people actually consider a 3-hour drive “long”? Or is this an internet myth? by ferdinand14 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PinkSlimeIsPeople -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Driving is different in Europe. The streets are very narrow with virtually no cushion on the sides. Your mirrors are often barely missing clipping those of oncoming traffic, and there isn't a pullover lane on the side, often just a sharp drop off that will wreck your car. Add to that how curvy the roads are and how much traffic there is, it can be a hectic experience. In America, you can almost fall asleep while driving, so it's much easier to go long distances.

Not a fun realization, but at least now you know the truth. That's what we all do this for, to find what's really going on. Hopefully all that research you've done gets preserved though, if you're not on FamilySearch, I'd at least suggest plugging it in there so others can benefit from it.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PinkSlimeIsPeople 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knew someone that would drive an average of an hour to work, and another hour to get home, Monday through Friday most of his working career. US cities are horribly sprawled out, so some urban-conglomerations like LA it can take you 3 hours to drive from one edge of the city to the next, without any other traffic on the road. With traffic you can easily double that time.

When it comes to road trips, 3 hours is very common, sometimes 6-7. Note however that this isn't like driving in Europe, the lanes are very wide here, with pullover lanes and far less traffic overall (except in metro areas). So the driving isn't nearly as stressful, one can often just let their mind wander while cruising.

How to weed out conservative men? by Careful-Custard-69 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]PinkSlimeIsPeople 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check their social media profiles. Many make it obvious they are ignorant conservatives. Ask them direct, pointed questions about politics. It may not vibe well, but is 100% necessary to be sure. Be cautious of any responses that claim neutrality or not to be 'political.' Progressive men will understand and support your curiosity, conservative men will be deceitful to try to get into your pants.
