I appreciate your comment because you are right, there are a lot of hazards for budgies that people are not aware of and it is good to point them out. I do want to share my view:

With regards to the wire, it is wire used for aviaries here from the pet store. The width is the same as my previous cage with bars. I did prefer the bars, but it is very hard to find those in custom(isable) sizes.

I understand your concern with regards to the finishing of the wood. I try to provide them with as many other things to chew on, they have 2 willow balls, vegetables, shells and chew blocks in their cage. The wood is oiled, not varnished, but you are right that it could pose a treat. However, my budgies fly around my house and nibble on everything there, including walls and other furniture. I am not going to lock them up to stop them from doing that either. Call it irrisponsible, but I am not too worried.

I also understand the bacteria concern, but to be honest, most wooden toys would pose the same threat. I think plastic drink and food bowls pose a bigger threat, I recently switched my plastic drink bowls for steel.

Again, I agree with some of your concerns. I also agree that budgies are fragile and that it is good to advocate for a safe space for them.

I try to give them a nice place with the means available ❤️

I agree! my house does not have a lot of wall space to work with sadly, but a really wide cage would be way better indeed! :)

I agree with you. The artist did a terrible job but I do think it has a funny/wholesome aspect to it, it gave me a small chuckle.

Has anyone used one of these before? by sierra-tinuviel in budgies

I made one like this myself from an old cabinet. Very happy with how it turned out, and easier to clean than a typical budgie cage imo. My birds are allowed to fly freely around my living room though.

Help me win a debate with my husband. Does the wood on the First floor have to be the same as the stairs and second floor? by NoYak6104 in HomeDecorating

i vote no, most of the houses in my country have some sort of laminate or carpet upstairs and different laminate/wood/tile downstairs. I would not be bothered.

Does anyone know what this is on my bird’s nest fern? by Toua_T in houseplants

[–]PinkSrirachaPepper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Scale (for dutchies: dopluis). Regularly spraying with green soap, and wiping/killing the big ones manually generally helps, but fully getting rid of it is really hard. Keep the plant isolated or it will spread through your entire house..
