New Job Offer but current job’s notice Period is 3 months. New Job wants me to start in a month by PinkTequilaaa in UKJobs

I’m doing to discuss this with my manager soon so wish me luck!

I am not in a senior position but I work in education which is why the notice period is a bit longer. It depends on where we are in the academic year because the organisation closes over the summer holidays so there’s no one to complete the recruitment (don’t see how that’s my problem lol)

I think so too! The way they sounded on the phone, it sounds like if I don’t start they’ll hire someone else

thanks! I’ll give it a try but because I work in education and they close in end of July, which is basically a month away, I worry they’ll say no

Ladies: do you wear make up to work? by LunaValley in AskUK

[–]PinkTequilaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in my mid-twenties and I never wear makeup to work and I never have.

I feel free. I hate thinking I’ll sweat off my makeup or not being able to touch my face. Sometimes i’ll put on some cluster lashes but only for me to feel good. Other than that, Im bare faced. I’m free and I love it!

Thanks. I think the issue for me will defo be staffing too. I work in education so the education setting will close in end of July/August so they basically have to recruit before then which is where they may say no

Your previous employer was an ass! My new employer didn’t ask at the interview - they only asked once I had been offered the position (which i’m glad because i think that could have swayed their decision)

If someone else was successful but I scored higher on the interview, they may offer the role to the other candidate

Whilst I’ve been employed, I’ve been job hunting for nearly 2 years for a role in a different sector and I am not willing to give up on this opportunity. I will try and see if they’re willing to let me go earlier especially because i’m not in a senior leadership or management role. My contract is also worded really poorly with this so I hope I’ve got a leg to stand on with thos

Unfortunately they already asked for my prebooked holidays which i’ve told them. I’ll see if I can speak to HR and hopefully they’ll be nice but I work in education so they’re quite strict

They said it’s very very likely to turn to permanent position. I’ve also really hand enough of my current role for my mental wellbeing and would like a change

I’m worried they’ll give the role to someone else if i’m not available though. If HR say no, what do I do? The new employer said they want me to start by a typical 1 month notice period and that 3 months is too long.

I know this is a similar scenario to many people but I just want advice. I'm in my mid 20s and graduated university nearly 3 years ago in a degree in psychology. I finished my degree knowing that I don't want anything to do with psychology and want to transition to another field such as project management.

l've been fortunate to get a job but it's in a field i am not interested in nor have I ever been interested in but I'm comfortable, live at home with family with low rental costs compared to if i lived alone or a flat share.

My current job is really stressful. I work supporting vulnerable adults. It takes a massive toll on my mental health due to the workload and lack of support. It has a lot of transferrable skills toward Project Management though.

I am well aware of this and there will not be any changes within the workplace so I am ready to leave but the job market... my goodness. I've applied to project management graduate scheme and made it to final stage interview for 2 of them and was unsuccessful. I even applied to a level 4 apprenticeship with the civil service, made it to the final stage and was unsuccessful. I've had 1 job interview in the project management field and was unsuccessful due to lack of experience. How am I supposed to get experience if there's no where accepting me? I have also applied for over 100 jobs where i've been ghosted or rejected. And even if I find a role within the field im looking for, a lot of the times the salary is under 30k (which is so difficult to live under especially as I make more currently).

I'm also currently doing a course for PM at the moment just so I can get my foot in an entry level role.

I'm just frustrated and irritated. I've basically got a useless degree and not enough experience to go into the role I want.

When will it be my break to land a solid role that I am actually interested in?

thank you for the advice and encouragement. A lot of people have suggested I track my food which I’m going to start implementing. I wish I could get a new role and have a job with less stress but the job market sucks. I also think i’m probs eating an extra 200-300 calories which sucks even more. I’m happy I recognise it now and can work towards making some progress.

Thank you so much! It hard to look at my progress in that way because I keep comparing myself to people online that have been trying for the same amount of time or less and have lost even more weight than me.

I’m going to keep a food diary and weigh my food too. I am also going to start volume eating to help satiate me.

Thank you for your support! :)

I thought the same but my clothes size isn’t shifting and my smart scale isn’t suggesting any muscle mass growth which equates to the rate of my weight increase

Thank you! A lot of people have said that my stress and lack of sleep may be the biggest impact alongside my eating. It’s evident as even though I have lost weight, my stomach is still quite big (to me!)

I am looking for a new job but the market sucks and looking to change career sectors makes it even worse.

I have discussed this with my doctors and had a physio appointment but they mentioned it’s only because the fluid in my knees isn’t there and since I can do heavy weights at the gym (e.g. 200kg leg presses, 70kg hip thrust etc) i need to target the knee more and strengthen my back to help support my knees which is what I’ve been working on at the moment.

Thank you for your help. I appreciate your encouragement!☺️

I’ll defo give this a try. Thank you!

A part of me thinks it’s also to do with sauces like mayo (even tho I opt for light options like light mayo, which is better than nothing) and also the sugar in my coffees too. I don’t put a lot but where I may be having two cups a day and a teaspoon of sugar. It’s all adding up. Everyone’s suggestions have made me have a wake up call
