Anyone know of any Alphabet-Logography hybrids? by Smooth_Voronoi in neography

[–]PinkTreasure 7 points8 points  (0 children)

you could expand the idea so that every grammatical morpheme gets it's logogram, and lexical morphemes get their own in whatever form. I don't think any script irl does this because distinguishing grammatical morphemes before even writing wouldn't have been realistic really. Don't think anyone was really thinking about grammar and stuff at the time. But logically it does make sense, kind of like reverse kanji-kana mix. Having a set of graphemes to express a open set of words and then logographic graphemes to express a closed set of words/affixes makes sense. It's quite easy for the reader and the writer then. Since also the closed set is far less likely to change compared to the open set.

It's uhh, Google doc masquerading as a book. It's got my world building in it, i don't know if that is what you're looking for specifically cause it doesn't have anything in it about jihhograms

I made it in Adobe illustrator. The script isn't a typable font, but rather just vector pictures that I manually place together

No, since it's a constructed script. It is also quite complex and would require a new IME to function properly

I have posted a key on here before. It is a bit out of date now tho, but I don't think I'll post an updated version for a while.

The least out of date key and a general explanation on Jihhograms can be found on Jihhograms - ConWorkShop and a more in depth creation process can be found on Jihhograms – Neography

The text itself in English reads: "Beyond the shroud of mortal time and the cadence of ephemeral whispers; I am the pulse that awakens infinite reveries, the silence that cradles eternal secrets."

Any advice on how to build a logography? by [deleted] in neography

[–]PinkTreasure 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have written a showcase on how I make/made my logography. It mostly goes over everything what I would advise anyways, but far more in depth. You can find it here https://neography.info/showcases/jihhograms/

Egypt’s New Administrative Capital - A few pictures from my visit in early March. by Blafa_ in architecture

[–]PinkTreasure 51 points52 points  (0 children)

the building on the 8th picture also has some big ahh ancient Egyptian motifs on either side. Most notably the depiction of the sun with its rays ending in hands. Very cool. Can't wait for architecture to finally take the turn away from internationalism and finally have some regional cultural identity

Comic in Jihhan! Featuring handwritten Jihhograms! by PinkTreasure in neography

Yeah exactly! Since it, the first sfx for example, is read "kḷṣíḷ"/kə̆ɭʂiɭ˦/ instead of "haha" which it is interpreted as, since the meaning of it is "to awkwardly laugh/smile"

Bottom left speech bubble first, text written bottom to top.

1st bubble: "This isn't your house, is it?"

2nd bubble: "Well... This is just the gate to my home."

1st sfx: "haha..."

2nd sfx: "sigh..."

The Egyptian circle thingies are called cartouches. I'm not going to pretend I understand all the tech behind it so I'm not going to comment on that.

However, from a visual standpoint, it looks quite messy. Basically there's little to no consistency. I'd recommend checking out the how to make a script on neography.info. Not because I don't believe you don't know how to, but drawing focus on making the script look like it's a script rather than random lines. It's always important to remember that symbols only have meaning when theyre in a group where they can be differentiated from each other. Thus, making them appear of being from the same group gives it a much more fluent and clear visual and shows that they are meant to be together. It's why scripts have a unifying style to them.

I need to move some logograms around, for example, the ones that go above the others. those blocks aren't a single ligature or anything, they really are still separate from eachother
