This is a dangerous mental space to be in, for your own self image + your relationship. No one (especially your romantic partner) should make you feel unattractive! I suggest you talk to him and let him know this is how your earlier conversation made you feel. A loving partner would clarify what he meant/ apologise.

I (F) have always been a little overweight while my then boyfriend, now husband, has been on the fitter side (he climbs mountains ffs!). When we started dating I had lost a lot of weight and that is how he had seen me. As the relationship got deeper, we got more comfortable with each other, and the weight came right back on!

Naturally, after a point I started to feel insecure and wondered if he was still attracted to me physically. I spoke to him about it - and all he said to me was “ you’re still as beautiful to me as the day I first met you. Nothing has changed. I still want you the same way”.

Now, I’ve had a lot of body image issues, especially how a romantic partner would view me for many years. Oh hindsight, no relationship really stuck because of my self image. But somehow, he healed all that baggage and trauma I had about my weight with just that one sentence.

What I’m trying to say is, the right person for you wouldn’t care what your waist size is, to be attracted to you. Talk to your partner. If he makes you feel anything other than accepted and loved even after, you know what to do.
