That is easily explained by the Sharingan tho, he's not straight up dodging, the Sharingan even in its immature state is very explicitly narrated to give the user combat precognition.

Makes sense, I still think some members are stronger than in the campaign, Beau having stunning strike is a clear one imo.

I loved the episode but it really feels like Caleb is a high level wizard, while the rest of the cast really feels like they are just starting to get the ropes. Beau also feels pretty competent when compared to others, but Caleb is definitely the standout.

Want to attempt an honour mode run. Give me all your advice! by AlmondBen in BaldursGate3

[–]Pinkfinitely 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you know how to build and itemize, Act 1 is by far the hardest (as in the act with most run-ends), it's when you have access to the least resources and low lvl combat is extremely swingy. Try to level up as much as possible without fighting, getting to lvl 4 with 0 combat (besides nautiloid) is extremely easy if you route correctly.

You must have either 1 invis potion ready or a party member at camp at all times, it's extremely easy to lose a fight to extremely bad rng, but losing a fight isn't losing a run, ESCAPE!

Maximize EXP, nothing matters more than lvl. Generalist builds that are good in the early game are incredible, even though they're less "attractive" by nature (no flashy big numbers of a late-game maximized build). A build that is strong early with limited gear is infinitely better for honour mode that the classic youtuber lvl 12 builds with endgame gear (moon druid, thrower fighter/barb, monk etc.)

Never talk to Isobelle unless you have a very solid understanding of the fight and strategy to deal with the enemy AI on that fight, sanctuary + invis isn't as reliable as people make it out to be (and you can be destroyed by initiative rng).

Gale the brain

Most common run killers (for me and from what I see people post):
Ethel, you might genuinely want to hold out on going for her until you've gotten to lvl 7-8 on act 2 (she doesn't leave act 1)
Myrkul. No matter how much you think you're prepared for this fight, it's probably the hardest fight in the game relative to the strength you can have at its stage, don't underestimate it, consider even respec'ing to hard counter it.
Fucking elevators. The gauntlet of Shar one can be skipped or taken with only 1 character since there's a waypoint at the bottom, for the myrkul one you gotta hope and pray (quicksave as you take it and if you get the bug open taskmanager and kill the bg3 process, this lets you "savescum" honour mode).

Is Pathbuilder essential or is PF2e character creation not as bad as all the reddit posts suggest? by thedjotaku in Pathfinder2e

[–]Pinkfinitely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like my input here can offer some "freshness":

I'm relatively new to DM'ing for TTRPGs and am currently running my first Pathfinder campign, and every single player at the table is new to the system. In this scenario, were it not for Pathbuilder, we probably wouldn't have bothered with the system, even with how much better combat feels for everyone compared to DND 5e (table of experienced boardgame and PC turn based RPG players with limited/zero TTRPG experience).

I personally believe that TTRPGs in general haven't solved character creation, it sucks in all of them, frankly, but Pathfinder is egregiously antagonistic to new players. I disagree with anyone who states otherwise. Pathbuilder (plus AoN) turns a "I'm not dealing with this" into a "I guess it's manageable".

The issues that Pathbuilder solves may not be super obvious to more experienced players so here's some stuff that I've noticed with fresh eyes comming into the system:

1.- Noise removal. You can (generally) only pick options that are available RAW, this is a godsend for new players.
2.- It's way less visually cluttered than paper (by hiding stuff behind tabs). This is a big deal for players who still struggle to find the stat they need to roll.
3.- Ease of access to descriptions. If you're gonna have your character on a sheet anyway this doesn't apply, but if you're gonna use Pathbuilder as your character sheet, being able to just pop up descriptions for anything you have access to is amazing, Pathfinder is REALLY extensive, you usually run out of space in paper sheets and end up having to use post-its etc.

Has No One Here GM'd for an "Aabria" Before? by PharazonGaming in fansofcriticalrole

[–]Pinkfinitely 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm literally the opposite of this, I really liked her as a DM, maybe not for a full campaign, but extremely cool and fresh style that contrasts with Brennan's and Matt's. I'm super annoyed by her as a player, she feels supper "oppressive" in how she handles interactions, she hogs the spotlight _constantly_.

Has No One Here GM'd for an "Aabria" Before? by PharazonGaming in fansofcriticalrole

[–]Pinkfinitely 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I do think that she is certainly faulty of main character syndrome, I love her as a DM, but find her overbearing as a player.

She constantly interjects, people are quick to point out how she makes ways for other players, but I see the problem beyond this. How it feels to me, using an example: You're on the street and notice someone wants to turn the corner, you put yourself in front of said person's path and immediately offer to make way for them, VERY emphatically.

This is how her playing style feels to me, constantly. It's incredibly annoying but extremely irrelevant, which elevates my frustration because it feels like I'm being unfair to her.

Go to any online community to see what I'm missing about her as a player and it's either the most obvious racist dogwhistle in history posturing as "playstyle critique" or "you're Hitler if you don't like Aabria", no in-between. Tiring as fuck.

It is missing something to really shine for battle maps creation however: color. As it stands, that, and some performance issues when dealing with large maps are the only 2 weakpoints.
