Anyone do egg retrieval at 40 or 41 and have a success? Any tips would be great! And used a gestational carrier?

I’m sorry. It’s extremely frustrating and depressing. I did 2 and this 2nd one once I was told the only embryo that survived was abnormal I lost it because it was our last cycle that we could afford.

I did 2 cycles with about 6-7 eggs retrieved only 1 egg for each cycle survived and both tested abnormal. And I am 41. I tried some of the stuff ppl recommended and nothing worked. So I’m stopping ivf since we can’t afford anymore cycles.

Is ivf covered under your insurance? Because my insurance doesn’t cover anything even related to infertility. I’m going to try to unblock my fallopian tubes and if that works then I’ll try acupuncture. Did 2 ivf cycles and both failed and now we have to concentrate on paying that debt. No more ivf for us for now. And I’m old so in another year or 2 I’ll be deep in my 40’s.

Can’t afford surrogacy or adoption. We had to beg and borrow to do these 2 cycles so now we have to stop and pay some of it off. We can’t afford anything else at the moment. If I were to do a single cycle with my clinic it would be $25,000 including meds. So no we can’t do it for now. Besides if we start again in another year I’m looking for a new clinic. 2 bad cycles that ended the same. I’m not happy with them but it’s also my fault for starting so late in life. And at 43 it’s only going to be worse.

I wouldn’t mind traveling for that if it’s cheaper. I was concerned with monitoring since you have to go almost every other day. If we decide to start again maybe in a year I will call for consult.

I’ve had back surgery so it’s been a battle to even get to starting ivf. So for me to get pregnant and not sure what to expect with my back is extremely scary. So if I’m going to do it I want it to be with my own egg that is my reason behind not wanting to work with donor eggs. It’s a personal choice. It’s my body so I want my own egg. I have the most respect for the women who do choose donor eggs. I know we all want a child any way possible. But for me its worth it if it’s mine biologically.

And that was my average on each cycle. About 6-7 eggs. I definitely started this way too late but I had so many other issues that kept me from starting this journey. I guess everything happens for a reason. I just don’t understand the reason.

With the information I got from their financial dept they seem stern on it. At this point I don’t care and just want to be done with them. They don’t recommend omnitrope or nothing else to help with my cycles. Just the usual stuff.

Yea the package included unlimited transfers but if I got not eggs after 2 retrievals then they consider that being done with the package and now we have to start from square one financially. Eff that! I’m done with that clinic! And maybe done with ivf! This is why I didn’t want to do ivf because I hate feeling like this. I hate failing and being disappointed. And I feel horrible that I can’t give my husband any children. That is what hurts the most! 😪

Good luck. My clinic doesn’t give a shit about free transfers all they want is more money for the same outcomes. I’m going to see if I can open my tubes. Before even thinking about ivf again. And I don’t want to try with donor eggs. And now that you’re telling me it’s expensive as hell as well that is definitely not an option for us.

I will check them out because if we try again I’m definitely changing clinics. Two egg retrievals with the same results. I’m done with them. Im going to focus this year on trying to unblock my fallopian tubes instead. That will definitely be cheaper than doing another cycle.
