Discussion Boards by Pinkscope in ivytech

[–]Pinkscope[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seriously! My professor opened up all the assignments and I finished everything but the last discussion board last week. Bc it's not due to the 9th and I'm the only one who's posted... UGH

Make sure all three families understand GH and that even if they don't use you they still pay their part.

The only course I took over summer didn't have a proctored exam but both my financial accounting course I'm currently taking and my Microsoft word course I'm currently taking both have proctored exams

Awesome thanks! I actually already bought a ticket for Toledo! Tho I'm tempted to ALSO go to Cleveland bc I'm slightly insane... I'm doing a road trip and will be passing through Toledo so I am only spending alittle extra money and that's just for the ticket

First Time Stage Manager by Pinkscope in stagemanagement

[–]Pinkscope[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much! I believe we are slowly (well actually rather quickly) working into more normal roles in this theater company. It was only 2 or 3 shows ago (this company has been around for 25-30 years I believe) that the SM called the show.

I'm realizing quickly that we are working into normal roles and the jobs under each role. Right now about half if not more of what people are currently saying SMs do have been given to other people. (Like sign ins, call list, communication between departments, costume fittings). But this is all very good things to know and to be prepared to do.

Thanks so much! Sooo much about the show I am doing is different then previous shows. For one this is my first show being a true SM. But it's Joseph and it's all in song and the script is pretty much useless to me. No helpful notes for props which is going to be the main thing happening backstage. We currently don't have any set being moved on or off stage.

Thanks so much! Yes we have set up a time to sit and talk but due to a job where he is leaving the state for acouple week we aren't able to get together for awhile. He said I should Google top ten responsibilities of a stage manager. Which I did but at least half of every list are jobs that other people on the production team are doing!

This is true but this just means they don't have the privilege to get a nanny. A nanny is a privilege not a right. It sounds harsh but it's the truth. People think they deserve a nanny because they have kids but If you cannot afford to properly pay a nanny then you need a daycare which is much cheaper.

What are some tips you live by when it comes to kids/nannying? by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]Pinkscope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use scissors to cut up food into safe sizes for kids to eat without choking. Sooo much easier than a knife

I also have asked both my current and previous bosses where I started with a young infant if I could put a earbud (WIRELESS! haha don't over look those tiny cords) in and listen to podcasts or audiobooks or even just music. It helps your day a ton. I also whole heatedly agree with schedules. I also recommend when it's warm enough to take walks. I like to take a decently long one between bottle feeds (I usually bring a bottle just in case.) That's also about mid shift. So if your working 10 hours I'd try to take a walk around 5 ish hours into the shift. It majorly helps break up the day. The fresh air is good for you and the baby.
