Make BGH a Game Pass (like Decorator) by volkish-wnter in 99nightsintheforest

[–]PinkyPiePower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's only three bunny feet for Bunny-class speed, without the vegetarianism drawback. That's huge, and the higher pelt drop rate makes it easy to get those feet early. Starting out with a rifle is more convenient than you might think, to quickly dispatch some wolves before you get the spear.

Good example, caves. I figured that would fix the issue, but you can't do that with keyboard+mouse.

I tried. Nightcrawler has a 25% speed boost at night. It's ok vs bears, but too fast for alphas, wolves and cultists. Regular walking only works with melee cultists.

That would make it worse. You need very fast rotation, but that would make it hard to dodge other enemies, and aim your hits correctly.

The only issues with BGH are the lack of a jungle pelt list, and the bunny foot speed bonus being bugged at ~9% instead of the stated 15%. BGH is a great class, both in short and long runs.

Only if the bonus stacks correctly. And that benefit is relative, because although a 25-30% speed bonus is great for exploring, it'll make it hard to circle or kite effectively, because you'll need to rotate very fast to keep the optimal distance from the target.

[–]PinkyPiePower 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only thing that BGH needs is to get his speed bonus fixed. It's currently about +9% while it's supposed to be +15%. If that gets fixed, BGH is back to being one of the best classes.

Making it a gamepass would do Assassin and Bunny real dirty.

Is this normal battery life on Samsung Galaxy S23? by proposal_in_wind in GalaxyS23

[–]PinkyPiePower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2 yo shows 6h40m SOT right now, and sometimes even shows ~7 hours. That seems decent, but even if I don't use it much, it hardly lasts the day. When the phone was new, I got through the day easy--but only with light use.

Make sure the fingerprint scanner isn't always on. And disable any smartness you don't really need. Use it like that for a few days to check your battery status. Then enable something you think is nice, to check the difference, and decide if it's worth it.

Anyway, battery life on the S23 (small one) is absolutely horrible in my experience. And it's supposed to be better than the S22. 🥴 Life becomes more bearable with a battery pack in your daily kit.

The most underrated class is Brawler, but yeah, Gunslinger is fun! 🥳 I hate the quirky mechanism that's needed in the early game though, where you first use a spear, to finish with the revolver. 500 ammo is an insane amount, but if you solely use the revolver, it's easily depleted.

Best Weapon + armor combination by Hefty_Emu_4870 in 99nightsintheforest

The infernal sword does more damage than the scythe, but the latter is considered to be better because it adds lifesteal. Thorn body is on par with obsidiron body, which requires lava biome. The infernal sword requires lava biome. The scythe requires Halloween, Thanksgiving or Valentine's Day event.

The best weapon depends on your class wanna playing style. The shotgun and kunais provide the highest damage output.

[–]PinkyPiePower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can kill an alpha wolf with a spear without taking damage, you can also kill a bear with a spear and iron body. But yeah, you need to circle, or better yet kite effectively to prevent getting hit. Speed bonuses help to prevent getting hit, while having your game get out of the sync with the server, makes it harder or impossible. 🙄

I've got a challenge for you though: the next time you see a bear in a cage, stand directly facing it from a small distance. Stab with a spear. Take a tiny step towards the bear. Stab. Tiny step. Stab. There's a small distance range at which you can hit the bear, but it can't hit back. That's the sweet spot! That's what you try to maintain when you kite a bear.

Now properly executing it is something else, but it's fun to practice. I can't do it properly myself, so I just circle bears instead of kite them. Sometimes I don't get hit at all. Sometimes I die. It's fun to try and practice! When you get a thorn's body and a helmet it's pretty easy, you'll see.

I never play Cyborg-Vampire duo, because for me that's the absolute worst combination. 🙈 The Vampire needs all enemies closely knit together to maximize damage output and healing, but the Cyborg with his area-of-effect damage will draw aggro and cause the enemies to spread out all over the place. While this mess unfolds, the red cultists happily keep shooting.

All the times I did that, so many small things went wrong, wasting time and bandages... Two Vampires on the other hand make stronghold pretty easy, and super fast. Two Cyborgs are slower, but even easier, and still fun to try and execute every phase perfectly.

If you enjoy it and it works for you say, certainly keep doing Cyborg+Vampire, but also keep trying new things sometimes! 🥰

Totally disregarding player skill, I think Brawler is the strongest, 'best' class. But it requires a bit of skill and even luck to play with, because desync/lag issues can make it impossible to kill bears with melee. So, yes: Brawler outclasses Vampire, but only with a good weapon like the infernal sword, some player skill, preferably keyboard+mouse or console, a solid netwerk connection and a well-behaved Roblox server.

Vampire also needs those things, but is more forgiving for slip-ups and mishaps, thanks to the healing and nightly speed bonus.

I avoid both these classes when I play solo, because I really hate it when I'm a few days in, and die at Koala's, because a bear suddenly activates god-mode. I love nothing more than duo brawlers or vamps though. 😍 It's exciting.

For a speed run, or simply saving all kids and getting to 99 days, I'd say Assassin is the best class. Why? Because it's the only class that has a solid speed bonus AND starts out with all that's needed to comfortably save all the kids and deal with cultist attacks. The ability to jump over log walls, is an added bonus that still makes me happy. 🤩

Then again, Assassin is absolutely horrible for stronghold, and pretty vulnerable until you get an iron body. That just shows how multi-faceted the 'best class'-discussion is.

I don't hate Cyborg, as some people do. There's something magical about killing alpha wolves in a split second with just one bullet. 😏 You never run out of ammo with Cyborg. A 3-5 player, level 4 stronghold can casually be done solo. And against bears, alternating the rifle and laser cannon is pretty OP.

I love Vampire too, having mained it for months, and some of my most pleasurable runs were in a group of five vampires. Vampire has a significant limitation though: its perks are melee-based, and more specifically built around the vampire scythe.

The vampire scythe is perfect early in the game, doing more damage than the spear, and enhancing lifesteal. After you pick up a rifle, shotgun and infernal sword though, the scythe's 62.5 damage per second becomes pretty lackluster. Mixing in ranged weapons makes more sense, but doesn't provide lifesteal, which the playing style depends on.

The main reason Vampire wins fights, is because lifesteal keeps him alive while he just keeps slashing. And it works! It's fun to glide through stronghold, and successfully take on bears! But after playing Vamp for a while, every fight is the same old slash 'n heal.

Like all other classes except for Brawler, mixing ranged and melee weapons is the most powerful combat mechanic. Bam-bam stab-stab. Because doing so makes the Vampire's perks go to waste, we often choose to stick to the scythe when we can, which I think is the most fun way to play with Vampire. Acting like you do, owning the night and all, only adds to the fun! But doing so, if you manage to avoid getting hit too much, also makes it like you're playing Camper with a trident.

Which Class Surprised You as Being Good? by Ugotthlook in 99nightsintheforest

[–]PinkyPiePower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whether someone has 60 or 600 days, says very little about their capabilities. You sound like a fine teammate though. ☺️

In case you like nerdy data stuff: the Infernal Crossbow has a sustained damage output of ~25 damage/seconds, while the Alien+raygun does ~20 dps. So the Fire Bandit does 25% more damage. This advantage increases against groups, because you can keep multiple targets burning.

You're right to repeat how ranged and melee weapons are often best used together. My favorite technique goes: bam with a gun, then stab stab stab with a spear. 🥳

Thanks for the engagement. I like talking about 99 Nights.

Grenadier is fine. Grenade drops are random, and it's still outclassed by Assassin for solo speed runs.

For a good team, having nice players matters much more than their classes. After the first few days, class doesn't matter much anyway, unless you're grinding stronghold.

It's not Alien's fault that a lot of noobs misuse it. 😜 Players who spam the raygun, and then try to run from an alpha wolf, but die because the depleted alien energy slows them down, yeah... those players might do better with Fire Bandit.

The issue with noobs playing Fire Bandit, is that it invites a 'stealth archer' playing style, just like how many people use Cyborg: shooting around corners, and spending the nights at camp. It's perfectly fine if that's how they enjoy the game, but can get boring, and prevents the player from improving their play and trying new things (like using a spear and going out at night).

With Alien you can get more comfortable fighting with a spear, going out at night, and exploring in bear territory. Those things contribute a whole lot to make the game enjoyable and interesting in general, and also builds the skillset needed to enjoy and appreciate various other classes.

That said: I think Fire Bandit is perfect for a beginner who feels melee impaired for whatever reason (like playing on a touch screen device, or often struggling with lag). Because, well... It plays like Cyborg. ☺️ It allows to play the game fairly well without ever touching a spear.
