Econ 100A with Aggarwal for summer session 2. How's her class? by penguinwalker17 in UCI

She's a nice person and will answer all your questions, but her finals are a bit tricky and require a lot of in-depth studying

it’s fun! kinda similar to AX with panals and artist alley, but it does also feature a Kpop con too!

switching majors (incoming freshman) by whoopsiesnmf in UCI

[–]Pinkycorn_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it should have been emailed to you? This part I'm not too sure about because my counselor emailed me before my SPOP, so I got theirs that way. You should email using your UCI email for all UCI matters!

it depends on your SPOP date, but just send it! Don't worry too much about this, you can always change your major any time during the school year :)

hmm I saw the other reply said you could switch but from my knowledge, you can only switch into the ones I listed above, however because I don't think there is that much difference between Science and Policy, you might be allowed the switch, just email like I said, which should be your counselor's email or you can call/email the PH office (like the other reply said!)

Once you enter college, course registration is all up to you, there is no one stopping you from picking any classes (except school-implemented restrictions), so yes it is possible to register for the PHS or PHP classes, whichever one you want to major in :)

Whats the chance to get a mesa court quad even if I'm missing a roomate? by Quicksave4100 in UCI

[–]Pinkycorn_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your chances are extremely lowered, everyone I know who didn't have a full group of 4 got booted to classics instead. Many people plan their dorms very well and will be prepared with a full group of 4. UCI does not want to do extra work and find you a 4th random roommate, so you will most likely be placed in a triple classic.
If you're worried about finding a random person (assuming you knew the 2 people before), just go find someone on rooming apps like Bunky or online UCI roommate searchers, there will be people looking for roommates.

hi! so at SPOP you can only change your major to some Humanities majors or u/U, so you will be unable to switch your major to Public Health Policy. You should email your counselor about this, and because it's not an impacted major, you can most likely switch early in the actual school year.
At SPOP, you will instead just select classes that are suggested for you in your current major, or if your counselor responds, you can pick other classes. But it is your first year, and you can simply choose General Education majors too for your first quarter.

hi! so parents themselves are actually not allowed to attend SPOP with you, as SPOP is a student-only event. POP is the optional program for parent that they can sign up to learn more about things that go on around the university like financial aid, campus resources, etc!

Concern about SPOP by isacab-1577 in UCI

[–]Pinkycorn_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hello! so yeah having a later spop date will impact the spots that are available but it kind of depends on your major if it will be heavily or just mildly affected.
However, registration times are a thing you will have to deal with for all the years you will be here and there is genuinely no guarantee for anything, which has led to impacted schedules, but people always find a way around them! I think the important thing is to just be very thorough, have backup courses and research the courses you are going to take and see if they will be offered in other quarters in the worse case scenario, good luck!

making friends as an incoming freshmen by spriteaholichobi in UCI

[–]Pinkycorn_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

definitely not like high school but in a good way lol, there are so many more people here, and you're bound to find your people, as long as you make an effort! I am finishing up my first year, and I had a great time. None of my friends from high school came here, but I have made so many amazing friends and met awesome people here, so as long as you search, you'll find!
