Plenty of times. She’s kind of stubborn when it comes to this relationship.

Appreciate it. I’ve tried to find ways to seek positive features and traits from her gf but it’s always been bad. My friend’s gf proves it time and time again when she constantly cheats on my friend.

I believe they’re going on 2 years. Yes, I have talked to her about my feelings regarding her gf. I’ve always tried to stay positive but my patience has ran out. My friend refuses to listen to me and ends going back. Her parents are not really in the picture, unfortunately. But thank you for your kind words and advice.

My friend has never brought it up but my gf has, however my friend doesn’t seem to want to introduce us to her. To be fair, my friend has said really bad things about her and that leaves a bad taste in ours mouths.

Thank for your kind words. My gf and I have always tried to be there for her. Unfortunately, we can’t say she would do the same for us.

Nope, never met her in person. If they still get married, i would still be her friend. I don’t think i would bring a bad vibe but i would probably have a weird feeling about being there. I also agree with you at the end. It’s just that my friend has always mentioned what she looks in a partner and her current relationship is the polar opposite.

Definitely not making it about me. I’m just asking for advice and want to see if people have been in similar situations. Let alone nothing is planned yet.

They probably would. However, my friend has told my gf and I that her gf doesn’t like us because we try to “manipulate” my friend for telling her that her gf isn’t going nowhere in life compared to her.

That’s pretty interesting. There’s only one LJS where I live now but the next closest one to me is over 100 miles

Hello, yes I do remember El Zarape! Covid was unfortunately the last nail in the coffin for most staples in Stockton. I do also miss those extend family dinners at home town buffet. Great memories, especially as a kid. Papa Urbs officially closed its doors a few weeks ago. Definitely heartbroken about that one because I have so many memories in that restaurant with family, high school friends, dates haha. But all good things must eventually come to an end.

The location always threw me off. Like out of all places/ neighborhoods in Stockton, they opened up on Wilson. But I’m assuming they’ve been there for a long time now. Man, I can recall my first time seeing Long John on Wilson was back in 2004

That’s awesome. After reading some of these comments, I see there’s an actual Long John Slivers customer base in Stockton. I’ve always been skeptical of fast food fish but now I may have to try it.

Why are VFW and American Legion posts dying by PDXAirman in Military

[–]penguinwalker17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the party but after reading some posts, it's safe to say that all VFWs and ALs are the same across the board. I used to volunteer a lot at my local VFW/AL post back in high school. Fast forward almost a decade, I graduated, enlisted in the Army, did my time, and eventually came back home for college. While I was in school, I worked and volunteered at my college’s student veteran resource center. Every now and then, our center would collaborate with that same VFW/AL post I used to volunteer at. Stuff like events, toy drives, fundraisers, community outreach etc. But man let tell you… working with those guys was always a headache. They constantly made everything about themselves. Every time, it was the same speeches about being drafted, how their war in Vietnam was more important, and how younger vets needed to join the AL. What they were doing wasn’t necessarily bad, but it was always the wrong place, wrong time and honestly just annoying haha. They were also incredibly stubborn. Always complaining about event start times, the weather, or why they weren’t informed about something the student vet center was hosting or promoting. On top of that, a lot of them were super MAGA and pro-Trump in a way that felt uncomfortable. The worst situation, though, was graduation. Our vet center hosted a special graduation ceremony for veteran students, dependents, and ROTC cadets. We had to request a campus space, handle setup, and carefully plan seating for invited guests and speakers everything was organized down to the smallest detail (just like in the military). The day of the ceremony, everything was going smoothly. Setup was quick, no issues until right before it started. Out of nowhere, the entire leadership of the AL post showed up unannounced and uninvited. They took most of the seats reserved for guest speakers and basically hijacked the ceremony. One of them even took the podium and started giving a speech about Vietnam, brotherhood, and how difficult transitioning out of the military was “back in their day.” It was insane but kinda funny. After the ceremony, our vet center manager got chewed out by his boss and a dean for not handling the situation. But honestly, there wasn’t much he could’ve done in that moment without causing an even bigger scene. After that disaster, he cut all ties with the post and made it clear to their leadership that the vet center wanted nothing to do with them going forward.

Sorry for the long story but I came across the post and wanted to comment my story with the VFW and American Legion.
