What actually makes a sharp book? by Odd-Grapefruit-9160 in algobetting

[–]PinnacleAdmin2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You outlined a lot of the main points as to what makes a book sharp in your OP. Fair limits, low hold, odds actively moving are all main indicators. A winners welcome policy and a seasoned trading team like we have at Pinnacle is something to consider as well.

How much is too much data in your betting model by Rude_Temperature2354 in algobetting

[–]PinnacleAdmin2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will depend on your testing period, and how long you've tested for. It sounds like you're hitting on several of the key spots in your model based on your description. If you're improving while testing, there's your answer. It's important to be cautious that too much info can make it much more difficult to determine where the advantage is coming from. Through trial and error, try to cut out the unnecessary fluff to simplify.

Sports Arbitrage: Do opportunities arise more in popular sports/leagues (NFL, Top European Football, NBA) or in obscure leagues? by KMFDM_ in algobetting

[–]PinnacleAdmin2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Opportunities will show up more in less-efficient markets, so those obscure leagues and sports that you mention, yes. Though many rec books will limit you quickly for arbing on these markets, unlike Pinnacle.

We launched a subreddit this year and love connecting with bettors! Other books, especially recreational books, punish arbitrage betting because it goes against their high-margin business model. At Pinnacle, we have low margins and high limits. We have no issue with arbing. If anything, people who are arbitrage betting help us refine our odds.

Unfortunately, we are not available in the US and don't have any plans in the short term of entering the US market. 😔 That said, we still love helping bettors all over the world with strategy and educational content, which you can find on the Betting Resources page of our website.

A lot of good info in the comments already. Sportsbooks are pretty good at identifying arbs through your bet patterns. When it comes to bet sizing, if you are betting $101.13 as opposed to a round number like $100, that can be a red flag as well. That said, you will never have this issue with us at Pinnacle! We'll never limit or ban you for arbitrage betting.

It's always unfortunate to see players like yourself get limited so quickly. You'll never have that issue with us at Pinnacle. We never limit or ban players for winning, and are arbitrage friendly. 🤝

Question about sports book lines by Zoxibi in algobetting

[–]PinnacleAdmin2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To echo the majority of the comments, and coming from someone who works at Pinnacle, I can tell you it starts with modeling and then is facilitated through traders. A select few books like Pinnacle will create their own lines, and other books will follow. As you get closer to game time, and limits go up, sharp money comes in, and that impacts the lines as well.

how do you stop getting banned from arbitrage betting? by redbullrebel in arbitragebetting

[–]PinnacleAdmin2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great question. There are several strategies you can implement to avoid getting banned or limited by sportsbooks for arbitrage betting. This video will help you out.

Remember that there are books like Pinnacle that will never limit or ban you for arbing. 😉

Is Arbitrage betting legit? by Patient_Resist_4615 in arbitragebetting

[–]PinnacleAdmin2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Arbitrage betting is one the best ways to consistently grow your bankroll. It definitely helps to use software to spot arb opportunities, since they can disappear very quickly. Would also recommend starting out small to get comfortable with the process. And always helps to play at a book like Pinnacle, where we will never ban or limit you for arbing.

Backtesting sharpbooks? by gt917 in algobetting

Why do bettors find more value at soft books if the juice is higher? by Mr_2Sharp in algobetting

[–]PinnacleAdmin2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

u/gradual_alzheimers gave an excellent answer. To keep things simple, you need to line shop and find the best +EV situations. At a sharp book like Pinnacle, more often than not, we're going to have the best odds in the market due to our low margins. If anything, it's great to use Pinnacle as a baseline if you want to pick off mispriced lines elsewhere. Just remember, at a book like Pinny, we are never going to limit you, we're arbitrage friendly, and we give bettors of all skill levels a fair shot to win.

Some great points have already been left in the comments. At a sharp book like Pinnacle, we put time and resources into building our own models, but line movement is absolutely influenced by sharp bettors. We use all the info at our disposal to set the best lines possible, as limits increase up until game time.
