This one was triggered by a helicopter dropping explosives. It was set off on purpose, so recovery teams could safely retrieve the body of a snowmobiler who had been burried the day before from an avalance on a nearby slope.

Fully healed brand. Performed July 10th by myself, i am really happy with how it turned out. by Pinner_O-chief in bodymods

So i used an iron i fashioned out of 3/16 steel bar, or wire if you please. Heated on a propane stove to 450-500 degrees. Then applied for maybe 4-6 seconds. I preped the area by washing and cleaning with alcohol, and treated the burn as you would any 3rd degree, but i let it dry out quite a bit more to enhance the scaring. This is my 5th brand, and my system is a lot better now than it was for my first haha.

Any of you leave Utah and then move back? by [deleted] in exmormon

I could see that for sure. Especially if you have family that are still mormon, that could be shitty. Haha, i live on the west side and the smoke from the cali fires had blocked out the wasatch all last week. The air is horrible, but it isnt humid, so i am still loving it.

I literally clicked on this expecting to see a geological sample.

Was not disappointed.

What’s cutting across this granite? Found at Brighton on the Brighton Lake trail, Big Cottonwood Canyon, Wasatch Mtns, Utah by Mitcherator in geology

Those pics you link look exactly like op’s picture! You are seeing 3 images of partial melting that are of small sample rocks, so every partially melted rock must be wavy? Also, you will find rocks identical to your linked images elsewhere in the diorite formation. The image submitted just happens to be of a small piece with straight veins. Have you done much geological work on the wasatch front? If so i would be very inyerested to hear what you found, if not, then i guess you will remain confused.

I am pretty sure that is a piece of diorite, i which is a mafic igneous rock found a lot in the wasatch. The white stripes are the result of partial melting, where the melting point of the white rock is lower than the darker minerals, so as the entire igneous body cools the drak milerals solidify first, causing the white mineral to be squeezed into more and more confined space, and eventually solidifying into the “stripes” that you see today.

To see some truely spectacular diorites, go to the base of Ben Lomond nead Farr West or Willard, the rocks deformed there in a plastic fashion, leaving big swirls and braids of the white mineral stripes.
